2 --------- ith the thrill of graduation also — w w w came an under lying tone of ill sadness. It was a time to yfyg reminisce such things as Macbeth I finals, egg babies, almost going to I Dodger Stadium and the Prom. J One could remember wishing the sun would come out so we could go to the beach instead of 5th period, or thinking about that one special teacher who'll never be forgotten. All these are memories which we will always cherish, yet we must look towards the future. It is time to set your goals high and strive to accomplish them; climb high and reach for what you want out of life. We are tomorrow's leaders and tomorrow has come. As the class motto states: Today we follow. Tomorrow we Lead. It is now time to lead. Attention Seniors: High School as you know it, is over. Today we follow tomorrow we lead ttention Seniors: Graduation will be held on Thursday, June 17, at 8:00 o'clock p.m. All Seniors please attend. Graduation finally came for the Class of '82. For some it seemed as if only yesterday we were walking around, aimlessly looking for our first period class, yet for others the years merely dragged. The Class of 1982 was a class with class, a very special and unique class. No other class could claim that they had Won class competition for four consecutive years! Yes indeed, the Class of '82 was an exceptionally spirited group of students. The ceremonies were unique and beautiful. The Seniors broke through tradition by placing their chairs in and 82 shape, rather than in the usual and mundane rows. The roll went by quickly as a record breaking crowd of 5.500 proud parents and friends cheered and applauded their favorite students. Vineeta Jha started the evening with a beautiful recital of the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by Lisa Hathaway giving a heart warming invocation. ASB President Gentry Humphrey was the first speaker of the evening, followed by Ronalie Alonzo and Dan Kumamoto, who gave one of the most unique and poignant speeches of the evening. Barbara Grunert. Senior Class President, rounded-off the speeches and presented special awards to Ms. Joan Kepler, Mr. Dennis McReynolds. Mr. Bob Burdick, and Mrs. Linda Horisk, the Class of '82 advisor. A special vocal performance was given by Bridgette Hunt. Marina Amaya. Scott Harrison, and Christie Kroeger, as they harmonized and soloed the song Memories. After the flipping of the tassels. Karen Davalos gave her mind-pondering benediction. Emotions filled each Senior and the realization that graduation was over came when everyone stood together, singing the Alma Mater for one last time. 26 Activities Graduation 4

This years musical was Damn Yankees, which was performed in the Little Theatre and ran the nights of May 20, 21. and 22. The musical revolved around a man named Joe Boyd, played by Tim Thorn, who would sell his soul to become a star baseball player for the Washington Senators. At that time, the devil, himself, Mr. Applegate, superbly played by James Page, pops in to take Joe up on his offer. Kim Magee played the sensuous Lola who, unsuccessfully, tries to seduce the naive Joe into keeping his pact with the devil. The fast paced action was highlighted with the entire cast performing in various song and dance numbers. For many of the Senior cast members, this musical was to be the last performance in their acting careers here at Cerritos. On the closing night performance many of the cast members gave their thanks and regards to the one who directed them through it all. Ms. Thornberry. The entire evening proved to be an exciting as well as emotional one in which the entire cast as well as the people who were in attendance will remember for a long time to come. The hit of the season
