any of our Mby involving themselves in tivities that were planned. C tivities dressing up was a displaying the Don Spirit. Eve Spirit Week, Era Week, and even the prom gave students a chance to spend much of their own time and effort in showing to everyone else that they could enjoy themselves while they were learning. The entire year was filled with people breaking through and achieving their goals. Whether it was Eric Azarcon being found not guilty for killing Kiyomi Emi’s egg, Mr. Smutts' AP history class winning the annual scavenger hunt, or simply graduating, people did not lose sight of their goals. That was probably one of the reasons 1982 went by so quickly. These such activities were planned to alleviate the monotony of school, but simply planning them did not solve the problem. It took participation from the students to achieve that goal, and for most, that goal was met. Not only could the class of '82 pride themselves in an excellent year, but the entire student body, for if it weren't for them, none of this would be. Closing 267

n the 1982 school year there were many ups and downs in the area of athletics. We all went through many losses, but there were also many victories we shared with one another. Among those was the Varsity Baseball team who managed to reach and excel to their highest achievements. The team advanced to the CIF Semi-Finals and were rated the 1 team in the Southeast area, while having three players make the all-CIF team. Once again we can say that the girls' Varsity Tennis team had a superb season as well. Debbie Spence showed an excellent performance by winning the 1981 CIF singles championship. A new addition to the sports line up this year was the motocross team. Cerritos has slowly but surely been offering a variety of sports for the entire student body to participate in. Overall, the year in sports was an exciting experience for all. Students broke through with much endurance and dedication in this years sports program. 268 Closing Tv'-.
