Science Martinez, Sam — English he English department under the direction of chairperson Dennis Cox, continued to be as strong as ever in breaking through to teach its goal of having all students receive the gift of a good English education. Four major areas of study composed the English department this year. They were Basic English. General English. College Preparatory English, and Advanced Placement English, which was composed of the top three percent of the senior class. With the addition of new teachers Donald Teague and Ann Joynt to the English department, they continued to lead with a well qualified array of teachers. Awards were given in English to the most aspiring seniors. Among them were the Bank of America Award for English and the Outstanding English Student Award to the senior who had shown the greatest excellence in the area of English. In all, the English department continued to rank as one of the finest and will continue to for many years to come. 1. Ms. Stanley awaiting her punishment. 2.
