Science Martinez, Sam — English he English department under the direction of chairperson Dennis Cox, continued to be as strong as ever in breaking through to teach its goal of having all students receive the gift of a good English education. Four major areas of study composed the English department this year. They were Basic English. General English. College Preparatory English, and Advanced Placement English, which was composed of the top three percent of the senior class. With the addition of new teachers Donald Teague and Ann Joynt to the English department, they continued to lead with a well qualified array of teachers. Awards were given in English to the most aspiring seniors. Among them were the Bank of America Award for English and the Outstanding English Student Award to the senior who had shown the greatest excellence in the area of English. In all, the English department continued to rank as one of the finest and will continue to for many years to come. 1. Ms. Stanley awaiting her punishment. 2. Print shop added to industrial dept. he industrial education department, under the direction of chairperson Sam Bisogno. once again came through offering to students a wide range of courses to choose from. Among the courses that were offered to students were auto shop and auto body, where students learned the makings of a car, both inside and out; metal shop, here students learned how to shape and transform metal into different objects; electronics, where students were taught many different wiring and technical procedures; drafting, students here demonstrated on paper their ability to sketch and draw; and horticulture, where the fundamentals of plants were taught to students. The industrial education department was also marked with the addition of new teacher Dean Buehler and his new graphics course to our campus. It is the goal of the department to give to students the best education it can in the many industrial fields. 1.
