Another award winning year he Pride of Cerritos High broke through with yet another awardwinning year. The band placed in practically all their competitions. Major awards were second place at the Los Altos and West Covina half-time competitions and a second in the Artesia Parade; a third at the Savannah half time competition and a first place, as well as. General Effects Sweepstakes at the Western halftime competition. Other award winners were the Drum majors, who played well in Military. Show and Mace competitions. The band also took a trip to Tracy, CA for a competition and played in the Music Olympics. In order to pay for their trip and competitions, the band sold such things as pizza, raffle tickets, beef sticks and had a spaghetti dinner and a play-a-thon. To keep them even busier, they played at Knotts and Disneyland, and held four concerts throughout the year. All in all, the band had an outstanding and exciting year. 1.
