Drill team always standing tall illing in the shoes of last year's drill team seemed to be a difficult task to accomplish, but this year's squad broke through and managed to do just that, and even more. During the course of the 1981-1982 year, they managed to place no lower than second place in all the competitions that they entered, which were many. Major honors of the year included the Sweepstakes Trophy at Hibbard's Drill Team Camp. Cal Poly Pomona, Los Altos and Paramount competitions, as well as first place awards at the Artesia Parade. Savannah, Western and Los Altos half time competitions. Also, the drill team performed their award-winning parade routine at two theme parks, Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm, along with traveling with the band to Northern California to participate in the Tracy Half-Time and Parade competitions. The girls were guided and inspired by advisor Ms. Kordner and drill team leader Jennifer Simpson. Their fine encouragement and leadership was shone through the group and resulted in an awesome and winning year.
