erritos High School's Tall Flag Line had an extremely successful year. Practices began early in August, where the girls learned their routines. Under the strict guidance of Advisor Marie Korn-der, these routines were perfected before football season in September. The girls performed at all the home football games and some of the basketball games. Angela Tejeda, this year's leader, was very dedicated to the rest of the squad. Her leadership ability helped the Tall Flag Line place 1st at the Los Altos Competition; 2nd at the Savannah Competition; and 5th at the Artesia Parade. Their greatest accomplishment was winning the Sweepstakes at the Western Competition. During the school year. Tall Flag sold pizzas, raffle tickets, easter eggs, and stuffed animals. These enthusiastic girls marched in several parades and broke through by representing CHS in such an honorable fashion that only they could display. 208 Clubs Tall Flag

Sealbearers make History SF, the California Scholarship Federation, quickly became a very active club on campus. With the help of advisor Ms. Delo. the club was allowed to purchase academic jackets. The members adhered to the club's motto. 'Service for Scholarship” by providing tutoring services throughout the year. Fund raisers included everything from Chinese dinners, car washes, and singing Christmas cards to selling punch and popcorn at the school movies and dances. Many of the members attended CSF Night at Disneyland, district conferences at Santa Barbara and CJCLA, and to the club field trip at The Shakespeare exhibit in the Museum of Science and Industry. This year, the Club tried something new by having an exchange day with the CSF Students of Gahr. The profitable year was climaxed by an awards banquet. With the leadership of President Laine Morio, the Club Broke through in '82 by setting a CHS record of producing more than 20 seal bearers. 1. Various CSF members seem to have lost their heads. 2. Ready — Aim — Fire! California cadet corps ifle matches. Bivovacs, Leadership School, and Summer camp were just some of the things the Cal Cadets did throughout the year. This club kept themselves busy during football season by being guard mounts at the home games. The highlight of the club was winning the state small Bore Championship. Everyone worked very hard at the end of the year for the Individual Major Awards. They ended the year with the Brigade Awards Might and surely deserved to be saluted for their outstanding year. 1.
