New equations for math club ath Club, the organization that WkM gave Cerritos its first “Love ■ W ■ Machine” for the Sadie Hawkins Dance, broke through with other -1—' activities used to promote spirit -----------[—1 for CHS. The club, lead by President Tommy Kuo and Advisor Ms. Edson, sponsored such events as a See's Sucker sale, video arcade contest, and a math contest and banquet. They also participated in roller skating and the Spirit Week Volleyball Tournament. The club was very active in 1982, and their spirit definetly grew. 1. 10 years and still going strong here were many adjustments for the Informer in 1982. The majoj one was working with the new print shop on campus. Due to a rookie year, the time alotted for printing was drastically increased from last year. The additional time needed to print put a much heavier work load on the staff, which consisted of only 15 members. With experience on their side however, the Informer managed to produce 15 outstanding issues at the end of the year. The district graphics department handled the typesetting and consequently, printing costs came down. Once again. Editor in Chief Victor Cota and Advisor Mr. Armstrong led the staff in another successful year of excellent layout and writing standards. Students were kept informed and opinions were heard as the Informer wound up it’s first decade of production. 1. The Informer Staff. 2. Michelle Marshall and Steve Sepulveda trying to look busy. 3. Debate added to speech team reaking through with a first, the Cerritos High Speech teams participated at various tournaments such as GSC, GCLA, Lion's Club, Cal State Fullerton. La Canada (where, with a small group, the team took a fifth place sweepstakes), Alhambra and Long Beach City College. At all of these tournaments, CHS Speech had at least one and usually five or six people in the final rounds. They did so well that they sent several people to the state championships. Lead by such outstanding and unusual officers as Dan Kumamoto, president; Karen Davalos, vice-president; Randy Oudega. treasurer; Lori Jean Lang, secretary; and Mrs. Gordon, advisor, the team participated in the Spirit Week Volleyball Tournament, Mini spirit Week Balloon Sit, the egg toss and worked on the Sadie Hawkins Dance. 1.
