B 1980-81 SOPHOMORE A S K E T B A L L The Cerritos Sophomore Basketball team had a good season although they lost 13 out of 21 games. Their league record is 5 wins and 7 losses. They played for a consolation award in the Santa Ana Tournament, but lost. The most valuable player is James Shelton. The most outstanding scorers during the season were James Shelton, Marlon Wadlington and Darrel Mays. We’ll get ’em next year!!! 1. He can do it!!! 2. Danny Ruffo leading his team to victory. 3. 5 The Cerritos Junior Varsity Basketball Team ended their season with a 5-9 record in league, 9-11 overall. The team didn't do quite as well as they planned on doing. Even though they were aggressive and a hard working team, they lacked consistency. Outstanding players were Greg Rhea — Most Valuable Player and Darrin Hall — Most Improved. 1. Sidney Johnson going for the layup. 2. This is the pits.” says Keith Behnke. 3. Eric Draiper shooting for two. 4. Oh God. I hope I make it, says Craig Oka. 5. »' 2 i-81 freshman basketball team had a ison. They finished with an overall 21-2. Their league record was 13-1. The freshmen played well for a 1st place finish in league. Many records were broken by the boys on the team, during the season. Tony Roland had the most assists in one game with 10. The most improved player was Jim Osborn. Ed Hakopian had the most points scored in a game with 35 and came out to be the most valuable player of the team, for the year. Freshman coach Ken Scott did a fantastic job of coaching the new players the steps. These young but future stars will go on following years to learn even more and become even better players than they are already. 1. Sedric Carney aiming for his shot. 2.
