Tough J.V.ers Had It Rough The J.V. Dons grid iron team was predominately made up of sophomore players. Leading the offensive charge was Cass Seldon calling the signals and with the running of Robert Chavez. Tyrone Dupree, and Mike Sanchez. Defensive tackles were spearheaded by M.V.P. Tad Levendowski, Billy Gonzales, and Keith Levi. The season finished with a 2-5 record and fifth in league. The young Dons are looking forward to a more prosperous future. 1. Coach Manzo thinking. Gee what the heck is going on out there. 2. Ron Sheffy says, Hey. this one's all mine. 3. Uh. excuse me please but I have a ball to pass.” 4. This year’s Varsity Girls’ Tennis Team for the fourth time in a row won SGVL. The team is still going strong with a record of 15 league wins and no losses. IN CIF the team went to 3rd round, the farthest any girls’ tennis team has ever gone in CHS history. The team was led to victory by 1 singles Teri Spence, 2 Mindy Brooks, and -3 Maureen Garnica, who by the way is only a freshman. The doubles team consisted of Susan Kawaguchi and Becky Jones 1, Donna Montiero and Michele Martinez 2, and Kaylene Peoples and Peppi Walton 3. Congratulations girls, on an excellent job. 125

Baby Dons Shook More Than Their Rattles! The Freshman Football team ended with a 3-4 record, only two games from the league championship with the potential of becoming much more tougher for San Gabriel Valley League opponents to handle next year. Since Coach Green's limited depth of twenty-eight players, the Don Squad had a few electrifying moments. All in all, the Baby Dons came out in fourth place. High honored standouts included the receiving end Jimmy Osborn, running back Jeff Starr, and lineman Joe Davis. 1. Jimmy Osborn gets some Green Machine advice 2. 1980-81 Freshman team. 3.
