This year we claimed the name of Freshmen which we were very proud of. we had Mr. Thomas as our sponsor and Billie Compton as our class leader. The Freshmen Class consisted of about twenty members. After a brief vacation we again entered the doors of C.H.S. This year we were called “Sophomores.” Our class leader was Helen Kirk, our sponsor was Jenny Hager. We had English in the library and there were several chairs broken. We,(our teachers told us,) were to blame. Anyway it wasn't very comfortable sitting on a two or three legged chair when you knew a chair had four legs. Well, here it is September the lst. again and we are back at C.H.S. This year we feel very grown up because we have the name of Juniors. This year we also have two sponsors. Our choices were Mr. Eugene Orr and Mr. Harry Tuell. Our classleader was Elizabeth Compton. Under the direction of our sponsors we presented a mystery comedy, Whoa Auntie. It was a big success to the teachers' surprise. ith this for our motto, “ B (sharp) B (natural ) but never BY (fiat) we had the pleasure of serving a semi formal banquet to the Seniors, which was greatly enjoyed by everyone. After the meal we all met upstairs for games, singing and dancing. We think everyone was sorry wien they heard the old clock in the hall strixing twelve, but we all went home with many souvenirs and many happy memories we will never forget. Again it is the lst. of September and this year we have the title of dignified Seniors. We have as our class sponsor Mr. Eugene DeBord. As our class officers we have Melvin Cox - President, Amy Cox - Vice-President, Helen Kirk - Secretary, and Buddy Waddle - ‘Treasurer. Those who fell by the way side during these four years were, Robin Scott who chose a football uniform rather than Ceres, Georgia Diilow chose married lifey Okal Umbarger who chose a vacation rather than spanking. Others who quit for numerous reasons were Olivine Cullop, Buford Cregger, Anna Hubble, Carleton Arthur and Andrew Clemons. In our Sophomore year we got Felecie Atkins and Buddy Waddle. In our Junior year Daisy Carter and W. H. Cregger. At the end of our Senior year a banquet was given us by the Junior Class which was snioyed by all. With eighteen proud stgdents in our Senior class we think that we have had a very successful high school year. We want to leave our undying appreciation-to all of our teachers and those who have done many things in our behalf. We are sure none of us will ever forget our four happy years in high school. We sincerely hope that the class that follows will have as «auch fun as we have had, ) l l The senior class of 1952, being of sound health and feeble mind, do hereby declare this our last widi. To Ceres High School we leave our candy papers and chewing gum behind the radiators. To the faculty we leave our ability to gossip. To the Junior Class we leave our dramatic ability and our trips to the office. To the Sophomores and Freshmen we will our ability to go in debt. Felicia Atkins wills her ability to get along with the teachers to John Thompson. Auy Cox leaves her many good times in a green ford to Ada Hubble, hoping she'll have as much success, Billie Compton leaves her basketball ability to Nila Moe Davis, hoping she will make the player Billie did. Frances Young leaves her love for Bland boys and her many dates with them to Jean Atwell. Carine Thoipson leaves her quiet ways to Jake Clemons, Donnie Jo Lindamood wills her sophisticated ways and Christmas presents to Betty Jane Crabtree. Daisy Carter leaves her height to Oma Cox. Helen Kirk leaves her slim figure and ability to date school teachers to Dora Ann Lindamood. Dorothy Groseclose leaves her conceited ways and happy married life to Gladys Umbarger,. Buddy waddle leaves his flirty ways and desire to get a diploma to Dewey Umbarger. Roddy Crabtree and Melvin Cox leave their basketoall ability and big feet to Doyle Shupe and Wesley Epperson. Sherril Cox wills to William Hubble his conceit ed ways and his love for the Library at lunch. Andrew Hubble leaves his quiet ways to Stafford Shewey. W. H. Cregger leaves his stand behind the cannery to John Thompson and Nicky Tibbs. j Sheridan Foglesong leaves his temper and his dove for Jean Atwell to Bobby Harmon, hoping Bob can do more good than he has, Dan Foglesong leaves his love for the girls to Jim Smith, Elizabeth Compton wills her dump trucks and hot- rod fords to Ruth Fields. The year ended with the girls winning four games and losing three. High scorer for Ceres was Billie Compton with 122 points, and Felecia Atkins followed close with 121 points. Amy Cox scored 61 points and Donna Jo Lindamood scored 6. By that determination of Frankie Young, ™ long reacher Jean Atwell, and quick acting Ada Hubble it made it very difficult for the opponents to score. Oma Cox, Tommy Bruce, Ruth Fields, Gladys Umbarger and Janice Lindamood were always ready to assist the regular guards. On November 16th we were defeated vy one point by the Bland girls in the District and County Tournament. We greatly regretted that one of our best players, Felecia Atkins, was disqualified to play in the tournament. We wish to thank Mr. DeBord, our coach, for his time and effort in helping us so patiently. Our appreciation also goes to Dan Foglesong, our manager, and Mrs. Ray Tibbs, our scorekeeper. The Team regrets very much the lose of our Senior girls: Billie Compton, Felecia Atkins, Amy Cox, Frankie Young, Donna Jo Lindamood and Helen Kirk. The high scorers were: Melvin Cox 97 points; Roddy Crabtree - 63 points; Sherril Cox - 59 points; Sheridan Foglesong - 15 points; Andrew Hubble - 10 points; Charles Terlow - 5 points, They were ably assisted by the rest of the team consisting of Bobby Harmon, Nicky Tibbs, Buddy Waddle and William Hubble.
