History of the Class of 195 SEVENTH - We were eager, carefree, excited, and, yes, a little scared of what might await us that first day at Ceredo-Kenova High School in 1952. However, we soon became used to our schedule and also this new adventure. One of ou.r new experiences was being able to elect a candi- date for Homecoming Queen. Our candidate for this big event was Donna Maynard. EIGHTH - Our second year proved to be more exciting and we were well on our way to success. We were less noisy now and also we were beginning to gain, little by little, the education that was offered to us. This year, we elected Delores Workman as our candidate for Homecoming Queen. FRESHMEN - This was our third year at C-K and our last in Junior High School. We were making improvements and progress by now. Another new and exciting privilege came our way this year, we were allowed to elect class officers. We chose John Parsley as President, Linda Conley as Vice President, Ellen Bromley as Treasurer, and Don Wheeler as Secretary. We had several class- mates in the band now and also several boys were included in the sports activities. Also, the Junior High cheerleaders were all from our class. They were Judy Stark, Mary Jo Duncan, Ellen Bromley, Carol Brumfield, Judy Keyser, Patti Perdue, Jean Noble, and Linda Conley. This year our candidate for Homecoming Queen was Judy Keyser. SOPHOMORES - This was our fourth year and we really began to grow in wisdom and know- ledge. We were beginning truly to settle down to our studies. We joined various clubs and other extracurricular activities. This year, we chose Don Wheeler as President, Bill Spradlin as Vice President, Bob Yost as Treasurer, John Smith as Secretary, and Delores Workman and John Parsley as our Chaplains. Our Sophomore play, Susie the Siren, was a great success and we were very proud and happy to be able to present our class play. Linda Conley, Judy Stark, Ellen Bromley, Nora Stowers, and Donna Maynard were now majorettes. Our candidate, Linda Conley, was chosen Home- coming Queen. Denny Robinson received Honorable Mention on the All State Football Team. JUNIORS - Our Junior year proved more exciting than ever. We started the ball rolling by electing Bob Yost, as our class President, John Sutherland as Vice President, Nancy Jo Crockett as Treasurer, Mary Lee Galloway as Secretary, and Delores Workman as Chaplain. This year, we worked very hard on our play, which was Seventeenth Summer. During our Junior year, a great event took place in our lives. We attended our first banquet and prom at the Hotel Frederick in Huntington. Our theme, Moonlight and Roses, was really a beautiful one. Everyone certainly had an enjoyable time. This year our candidate, Laura Masker Chadwick, was elected Homecoming Queen of 1957. Denny Robinson made the second team on the All State Football Team. SENTORS - As we come to the end of our journey at Ceredo-Kenova High School, we leave behind us our years of experience. We started our last year by again electing Bob Yost as President, Amos LeMaster as Vice President, Denny Robinson as Treasurer, Mary Lee Galloway as Secretary, Lois Suthard as Historian, and Delores Workman as Chaplain. Our athletic activities this year were out- standing. The Seniors participating in football were: Joe Geiger, Hugh Ike Salmons, Ken Smith, Bernard Riggs, Denny Robinson, John Parsley, and Larry Noble. Denny Robinson made the first team on the All State Football Team this year. The Seniors playing in basketball this year were: Bill Spradlin and Eddie Smith. Three of om' Seniors made the All State Band, and Linda Conley became head majorette. Martha Finley was our candidate for Homecoming Queen and Judie Skeens was Victory Queen. Ellen Bromley and Mary Lee Galloway were her attendants. Our play was even better than before and the Junior-Senior banquet and prom was very memorable. Our graduation exercises were very beautiful, but yet a little sad. We most certainly should give our heart-felt thanks to our sponsors, Miss Maxine Jarrell, Mr. Caleb Smith, Mr. Lyle Plymale, and our Principal, Mr. Elmer Tabor, for their devoted guidance during our last year at Ceredo-Kenova High School. We also should give our thanks to the rest of our teachers, who have also been very patient and kind to us. Our experiences at Ceredo-Kenova High School have been rewarding, and we hope that in our future years we may look back at them with favor as being very honorable indeed. By Lois Suthard 8
