1442129 Q Ze fhdd Q U55 Seventh Grade Eager, inexperienced, and noisy -that just about describes us. We came to Ceredo-Kenova High School in the fall of 1950, ready to make our way down Melody Lane in a happy-go-lucky world. This was the first of our six big productions, and naturally we were inexperienced just being new members of the big cast and were we scared! Good quality and per- fection comes only with much practice, as we were to find out. First off, Virginia Streets was chosen as our Home-Coming Queen, which went over big. Eighth Grade Not quite so noisy now and maybe a little wiser in our fields, we started the production of our second show. This year Nancy Naylor reigned as our Home- Coming Queen. These first shows were uneventful due mostly to our inexperience though we did improve greatly over last year's show having learned the main keys. Ninth Grade This was our third production. Better than any before but we still had much improvement to make. We now had some junior orchestra leaders. Terry Christian became our president and Frank Heck, our vice president. Paula Hampton was chosen as our Home-Coming Queen and many of the boys were trying theirskills in the different fields of sports and making a good showing. Tenth Grade Having played over the notes of the 7th, 8th, and 9th grades, we were now ready for the main event, that of being able to play in the Senior High Orchestra. Our sophomore play was given during this year and went over big for the first showing of our dramatic ability, also, Joyce Conley was chosen as our Home- Coming Queen. There were two Senior High cheer- leaders chosen from our class, Bonnie Hall and Joetta Johnson, Laura Murray and Janet Cassell were selected as majorettes to lead our band. Ivan McGlone, Jim Pelfrey, Gene McGlone, Glen McGlone, Charles Gilkerson, and Frank Heck finally succeeded in mak- ing their dreams come true by making the varsity squad. Sonja Chadwick was nominated by the football team as a representative from our class as a candidate for Victory Queen. To add to our busy activities, we were able to join other clubs such as the Future Teachers, Math Club, Latin Club, Glee Club and Thespians. We were now on our way to becoming great leaders on the bandwagon of success. 10 Eleventh Grade Our Concert having been finished in the 10th grade, we were now ready to start practicing for the main showing. This year we had a very busy schedule in store for us. We were to attend our first Prom, of which we were t-he sponsors. David Capehart be- came our class president and served as master-of- ceremonies at the banquet. Our program was beauti- ful, everyone said. The theme was Moonlight and Roses. Some of our class of performers were chosen to serve as members of the Heraldus Staff with David Capehart and Ellen Campbell being Editors-in-Chief and Janice Martin, Associate Editor. We had many parties and picnics, and a barrel of fun was had by all while still climbing for the top of the ladder. Twelfth Grade We were really on our way now. With our-years of experience behind us, we were at the height of success and very much looked up to as leaders. Being seniors, we were to be very busy with the taking of pictures and the purchasing of class rings, which to us was the main event. Helen McGlone was chosen as our Home-Coming Queen during our big, final, and most important year. To head our high school band, Janet Cassell was chosen as head majorette. Ivan McGlone was elected as leader of our class of great composers. To take down every note and all lyrics, Ellen Campbell was made Secretary. To aid Ivan in our many engagements of parties, and so forth, Terry Christian was selected. Jan Rife was re-elected as our Treasurer to hold our pot of gold. To' discover and dig into the past for our talent, we chose Floyd Evans as Historian. Joyce Conley was chosen our Class Chaplain. These were our officers who were to lead our great orchestra. In the field of sports, Gene McGlone, Larry Jack Smith, and Ivan McGlone were selected as Tri-Captains of the varsity football team. Our team was really going places and took the spot- light and a round of applause for their success. The Sentinel, our school paper, was headed by three senior girls, Joyce Conley, Connie Spencer, and Paula Hampton. We were guests of the juniors at the Junior- Senior Banquet. The program was, as always, beauti- fulg everyone'was happy and gay for this was to be our last year and we enjoyed it. And so now being very accomplished in our own talents and fields, our performance has ended. As the curtain drops, we bid farewell to our many teachers and friends, and we shall journey out into the world to audition for our futures. By JOYCE CONLEY
