HISTORY CF THE CLASS OF '54 It was a bright and sunny day six years ago when the first members of the class of '54 ar- rived at Ceredo-Kenova High School. We were all a little scared and worried. In the seventh grade we were always late for our classes, doing the right thing but at the wrong time. It was a hard year but we soon pulled through. As our second year at Ceredo-Kenova began, we felt a little better and a little wiser. We were not scared any more and began to feel a sense of responsibility. We had to study hard but we made it. When we were freshmen, we were allowed to elect class officers to show us the right way. We chose Richard Perry, president, and Ronnie Lester, vice president. To make our place in Ceredo-Kenova a little better, Janie Plymale was chosen majorette and also to represent the freshman class as beauty queen. Thus our third year at Ceredo-Kenova ended. In our sophomore year we chose Judy Mich- els, president, Richard Perry, vice president, Balford Shulick, secretary, and Judie Peters, treasurer. This year some of the boys made the football team. They did a line job. We put on our first play, Sing for Your Supper, which was a great success. Reba Akers was elected to represent our class as beauty queen, thus another year at C-K ended. As our junior year began we felt very big and important. We elected Robert Johnson, president, Gerald Abrams, vice president, Reba Akers, secretary, and Marjorie Davis, treasurer. Our play, Strange Boarders, kept everyone laughing and guessing at the outcome. Reba Akers was chosen majorette and Mildred Dean was chosen beauty queen. Our Junior-Senior Banquet was a great success with everyone having a grand time. We were now entering our last year at Ceredo- Kenova. To show us the way we chose Amos Maynard, president, C. J. Frazier, vice pres- ident, Balford Shulick, secretary, Loretta Evans Gallion, treasurer, James LeMaster, historian, and Ronnie Lester, chaplain. In the sports world we had three outstanding players, Bal- ford Shulick, Bobby Adams, and Richard Perry made the first team on the All South-Western Conference squad. We wish to thank our sponsors, Mrs. Pifer, Mrs. Yates, and Mr. Queen, for their patience, kindness, and guidance during our high school days.
