Us yo Keith Stcrlcup Forrest Sprehe Mary Wham President Secretary-Treasurer Vice-President CLASS OF 947 We sopranos, the Sophomore class, were very proud to be Number 3 on YOUR SPHINX HIT PARADE. After we had emerged, still singing, from the Freshman class, we accomplished many worthwhile things. Under the leader- ship of Keith Stalcup, Mary Wham, and Forrest Sprehe, an up-and-coming trio of our class, and with the help of our class arrangers, Miss Merz and Mr. Smith, we grew up and no longer sang the kiddish songs of our youth, but vocalized on the more sophisticated tunes of the upper classmen. Representing our class in the All-Time Hits were athletes Don Fearheiley, Arnold Gluck, Dean Manns, Kenneth McBride, Bill McDonal, Harry McDowell, and Bill McKain. Those among us who had a high musical I. O. for the first semester were straight-A students Robert Chambers, Freda Curry, Sherman Doolen, Merle Drenckpohl, Iackie Goff, Iohn Gore, Margaret Harting, Betty I-Iofstetter, Vir ginia Lee, Annette Linkon, Charlotte Miller, Donald Parkinson, Mary Perrine, Forrest Sprehe, Edwin Stanford, Elizabeth Wham, and Ioan Whitchurch. Yes, we could boast of far more names in this group than any other class in school. Our Sophomore Publishers of YOUR SPHINX HIT PARADE included Mar cella Felchlia, third-page editor, Bobby Ford, assistant first-page editor, and Mary Wham, feature editor of The Sphinx newspaper. Shirley Deabler and Ieannine Geary, pretty members of our group, were chosen by popular vote to accompany the May Queen. We also displayed much musical ability. Some of our outstanding Hswingstersu were Bob Burgess, Pauline Brinkman, Loudine Brinkman, Keith Stalcup, Mary Lou Kendall, and Sue Cain. Betty Iune Sissom and Ioanne Bryant were our high-stepping Sophomore majorettes, who performed along with the band, and petite Marilyn Wool- bright was our contribution to the cheer-leading squad.
