w l Mr. Hayes Holman Superintendent Superintendent of Schools Hayes Holman at the time ol' this writing was especially busy trying to get all of the things organized for the big drive to get out the votes and get the build- ing, additions and the new junior high school. The project, largest bond issue for many many years in district 401, is over one million dollars. ll' passed. this will relieve the squeeze and the large classes especially in the grade schools. Wforking with the schoolboard, the citizens' committee for better schools, community devel- opment and the many other clubs and organiza- tions in the community. Mr. Holman has an entirely important job in getting the correct information to the voters of the district. The job calls for many speeches which keeps him on the job late at night. Mr. Holman's typical of the Four Seasons theme of the annual. He has a long day--and Page 3 works during the summer as well as the other three school seasons of the year. The finding of teachers for the schoolboard to hire is another of the big tasks Mr. Holman has to do each year, and it seems this year that he will have to find many teachers for those who are moving out of Centralia this year. Xvith Mr. I-lolman's quick smile and slow Southern speech-Texas style suh-he is often seen hurrying through the high school halls going to and from his office on the first floor. Because the annual had not been printed until after May I5 we were able to add the vote for the new building for the junior high and grade school additions. The vote was 1,834 for the new building program and l.0?56 against it which means that 63.9 per cent voted for the new building which is enough to okay the pro- gram.
