Ten new school records were set and another tied by members of the 1955 Centralia Tiger football team this past fall. The Tiger passing attack, which composed most of the Centralia offensive play, dominates most of the new records with a total of nine new marks set. Quarterback Les Reynoldson led the new individual record field by rewriting three of his own passing records set in 1954. The Tiger quar- terback set a new individual mark in passes at- tempted with 166, in passes completed with 77 and in passes intercepted with 10. Centralia's All-American end Ray Kinna- man set a new record in pass receiving for the Tigers this past fall. The lanky senior caught 26 passes for 270 yards, breaking his own record of 16 pass receptions set in 1954. The top record of the year, however, was that set by Rudy Gideon in the defensive de- partment. The senior co-captain end participated in 140 tackles while anchoring down the right side of the Tiger's defense at linebacker. Gid- eon's new mark broke the old record of 64 set by Gene Fry in 1954. Two other members of the 1955 varsity also broke the tackle record. Buzz Saari, the other co-captain, and Kinnaman both participated in over 80 tackles, Saari making 95 and Kinnaman 81. Gideon also tied another record, that being the pass interception marked. Gideon intercep' ted three passes, to tie the mark set by Bob Bennett in 1953. In the team record department, the passes attempted, passes completed and passes inter- cepted marks all had to be rewritten after the past season. The Tigers attempted 192 passes, completed 84 and had 15 intercepted to break the three previous top marks set in 1954. The Tigers also set new marks in the pass intercepted department with 11 and in the kick- off return department with 37. Both records broke previous highs since records have been kept, starting with the 1952 season. Running down the rest of the outstanding marks for the Tigers this past year, the longest kickoff of the year was a 59 yard boot by John Edinger against Lincoln. Kinnaman made the longest run from scrimmage, a 19 yard skirt against Longview. The longest scoring pass of the year was a 37 yard aerial from Reynoldson to Kinnaman. Karl Drops and Phil Palmer had the longest returns on punts and kickoffs, Drops a 28 yard kickoff return. Gideon had the best night in the de- return, and Drops and Palmer both 11 yard punt fensive department, participating in 21 tackles against Chehalis.
