Winyan and Wieaua Hold Their ,ounsel The graduating class ol' 1953 was led by two girls. Annette Ross as Valedic- torian with a grade average ol' 3.97. Pat Edwards with an average of got run- ner up honors and became Salutatorian. This year Miss Myhre was Chosen as adviser for Toreh Honor. Torch Honor is a elulr that any student with a grade over a B average can belong to. There are many privileges granted to Torch Honor members, such as they have an as- v sembly every year to present to the school and they enjoy their ice cream feeds every quarter. There were twenty students on the Senior Honor roll. To be on the Senior Honor Roll you must have a grade average of over 3.00. The requirement for Torch Honor Club is f that a student must have a better than 3, aver- age for a period ot two semesters before they f M .. E xr ia. are eligible. Some of the activities for the honor stu- dents are: quarter party, Banquet for the sen- Q' ior members, and an annual picnic at the end of the year. The initiation night was held at Horst park at the beginning of the year. This was for in- stallation of new members and new officers. They were served a very enjoyable dinner. Af- ,.,........... ierwards they were entertained and had a mid- night snack whirh was a wienie roast and bev- erages. The quarter party was given to all honor toll students. The-v were served ice Cream and cookies. Afterwards they enjoyed delightful musical entertainment. The banquet was held in honor of the grad- uation seniors that are in Torch Honor Club. They were served a delicious Turkey dinner. Afterwards Dr, Starr, Dean of the C, spoke on The generation of today and to come, Sandy Hausmtiii sang some very delightful songs.
