CROSS COUNTRY. WRESTLING NEW T0 CHS Coach Calhoun, with the help of Mr. Bill Ray, organized a Cross Country team at CHS. We hoped that it would help prepare some of the athletes dur- ing the fall months for the spring track season, said Coach Calhoun. The 11 boys who came out for the team ran 8 - 9 miles or more for con- ditioning during their practice. The meets that the team ran in consisted O C f Left to Right, 1st ROW: K. Alton, C. Dailing, D. GIRLS BASKETBALL RETURNS FOR SECOND YEAR Centralia's girls' basketball team, coached by Jim Enlow, played 18 games winning 10, losing 8, and winning the consolation trophy in the Palmyra Tournament. Nineteen girls were on the team, attending prac- tices before school and on some Saturdays. Coach Enlow taught the girls to play and fight like boys but to act and portray the ladies that they were. GOLFERS WIN CCC TITLE l Dee Daugherty Kirk Waisner With the combination of skilled golfers and Coach Steve McCarty the '73 golf team won the Clarence Cannon Conference Championship at South Shelby. Members of the golf team winning the Conference for Centralia were Kirk Waisner, Charlie Palmer, Steve Denham , and Keith Harmon. The boys' var- sity season ended with a 8-1 record.
