CLASS HISTORY One morning early in September of 1947, sixty-six boys and girls made their debut into high school life. These green freshmen elected Kenneth Holtkamp their Clas's'PrLeside'i'it, Charlie Davidson, Vice President and Pat Way, Secretary, and- Treasurer, The class spon- sors were Mrs. Wilson and Mr. Harris. Alvin Welchiand Pat Way entered the Hope Medal Contest, with Alvin winning first place. Pat Way was an attendant to 'Miss Cehti-aiiav' to bring a grandclimax to our .freshman year, , E , , ,I f f- , A f The next year we started back to school with sixty-seven under the nameiof Usillly uii' omores. We had lqst Kenneth I-Ioltkarnpuand Glen,Mize,,but gained.Marjorie.Boucher,,',-,-Bev- erly Clark, and Joan Mullican. Our Class officers this year were Alvin Welch, President, C.F. Hulen, Vice President, Barbara Seymour, Secretary and Treasurer. Our sponsors were Mr. Whitman and .Coach Prater.. Marjorie Davenport entered the Hope ,Medal contest. The teachers selected Pat Way to make the Sophomore Pilgrimage to Jefferson City. When the doors closed the last day of school we were all looking forward to 'ou-r neict yearf if ' , 1 - , ' ' . . 1' jj ' Then in the fall we entered oldC. H. now sixty-three Jolly Juniors and upperclassmen. Our sponsors were Coach Prater, Mrs. Remely, and Mrs. Owens. J'.'R. .M6frk Sc1i'if6d as President. this year, with,Frank Potts Vice President and KennethVHarterv,i'vSeucretarly and Treasurer. This year we gained Gene Forsee, Bud Smith, and Kenneth Harrison, but lost Betty Harlow, Betty Jean Gibbins, Dick qMerideth, Fay Mills, Lee Sheldon, Doris Tanner and Robert Wheeler. Julia Littrell won first place , inthe Hope Medal contest for us... Mar- jorie Davenport was selected to go to Girls' State while Kenneth Harteriandi'Me'rle Wright went to Boys' State. This year ithe Seniors were our guests a't the -Prom which-was al gala affair. Q, ,Q Z J j V This year all fifty-'five - of us are Sophisticated Seniors. l 'MT.-KQCTT and Mr. and 'Mrs. Bowen are our sponsors. We elected.Shirlie ,Ogle as President of our clasysjb with Johnny Sims as Vice' President, Barbara Seymour, Se cretary and Treasurer. Diane Markwell was selected as a Cheer Leader for the pep squad. We gained Donna Wright and los.t Claude Peck, Joan Mullican, Joyce Pulis, Rosebelle Barnes, ,Jo Ann Stevens, Bertha Wiflliarrrsh Jack Munford, Malcoln Davis' and 'Eleanor Gibsonf W i 4 N V S . ,, - ' ,, , . - X. For our homecoming Football game this yearlwe hada parade with each class represented by a float. Of course the Senior class won the prize for the best float. The Homecioming Queen was Julia Littrell, with Diane Markwell, Beverly Clark, and Donna' Wright as her attendants, , A V E V , . As the graduating Seniors of 1951, we pass through the doors' of C.H.S. with' fear and anxiety as well as satisfaction and enjoyment. ' , 19
