It is the story of quilting as an art, wherein each quilting square uniquely knows a sto- ry of its own Quilting represents a Southern heri- tage supplying a bridge of unity to regions and to cultures across the world. Written chiefly by Carol Sinnamon, who was aided by a select group of students, and sponsored by the Student Government Association, “South- ern Patchwork , scheduled for only one perfor- mance on April 16. 1982, due to raving reviews of exceptional talent, was asked for an ecnore perfor- mance on Commencement weekend U (jwerroneni ) s$0i se Arv.£o Tunk oV MU5iC an i DRAMA Student Life 31 CADEMIC HONORS CON VOCATION MAY 4, 1982 Achieve Work for the best. Fall Spiritual Emphasis Week was held September 1-5, 1982 on the campus of CWC to encourage students to strive for a closer walk with God. The main theme was “Knowing God’s Will and Guidance in Our Lives,” and the speaker was Rev Robert Murphy, senior pastor of the Eau Claire, Wisconsin Wesleyan Church. Emphasis by Rev, Mur- phy was placed upon the fact that God’s will in our lives is foremost concerned about who we are as per- sons and what we are as individuals. Where we go and what we do are only responses to His ultimate will in our lives. Rev. Murphy was accompanied by his wife, Mar- tha, and together they ministered to students from their own personal experiences and from their faith- abiding trust in the Lord Jesus, who through King Solomon's writing commands us to, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. There are rainy, rainy days, and if you don’t have an umbrella, you’re literally sunk. There are days when you dash off to your mailbox in great anticipation to find only “airmail” or an overcut chapel notice There are those days when you pulled an “all- nighter” the night before in preparation for two tests and a term paper that are all scheduled on the same day. There are those days when you go into the cafeteria, and you realize just how much you miss Mom's home-cooking. The Line-Up. Bob Harvey, Man-Aboui-Campus. Walch out stomach Here IT comes! Give thanks in all circum- stances for this is God’s will for vou in Christ Jesus, (I Thess. 5:18 IV) Thus, even though we’re having a bad day, the Lord Jesus gives us hope as long as we pray and faithfully trust in Him for His will in our lives. So the next lime life at Central is really getting you down, praise God, give thanks, and tell someone else to have a nice day. ■ Student Life 51 52 Studenl Life Aihletics 53 54 Athletics ■ 56 Athletics The 1982 Warrior Volleyball Team included from left to right, front row: Su y bddins, Bonita Johnson, Crystal Isaacs. Reaching for the Sacred high From the dreams of our reality It seems like an eternity. The question arises In odd sizes in our minds. Will we make it through? Rushing, planning, hoping, praying. Is our way clear? Friends near and dear We say good-bye To those memories, those dreams, those days, those years of struggle. Before us We see a new road. A new hope A pathway not yet taken. And we wish to make the best of ourselves committed to Him. We will understand, And we will survive. Until Somewhere down the road We remember And know that We are safe In His loving grace. Only then may we say farewell To the years we have known. An ending that marks a new beginning A new challenge A new chapter to be written in our lives. And then we just imagine . . - ALC 164 Epilogue Epilogue 165 I Love is very patient and kind, never jealous or envious, never boastful or proud, never haughty or selfish or rude. Love does not demand its own way. It is not irritable or touchy. It does not hold grudges and will hardly even notice when others do it wrong. It is never glad about injustice, but re- joices whenever truth wins out. If you love someone you will be loyal to him no matter what the cost. You will always stand your ground in defending him. All the special gifts and powers from God will someday come to an end. but love goes on forever. I Corinthians 13:4-8 Living Bible 166 Epilogue Epilogue 16? Given the opportunity to be editor of the 1983 Centralian has been a unique and an unforgettable learning experience for me. At times, it was difficult meeting deadlines, but with the help of a talented and dedicated staff, the unbelievable was accomplished Many thanks arc due for all their hard work I would like to express an especially deep apprecia- tion to Mark Johnston, business manager; Dale l ink, photographer; and Ginny Null, typist for jobs well done. 1 also wish to issue a special thanks to Dr. Laura Vinson, advisor. The 1983 Centralian could not have been made possible without the gracious coopera- tion of the student body and of the administration and faculty member-- of CWC. It is your book It represents the love and friendliness that was first displayed to me when I became a student here. It is reassuring to know that the care and the concern shown by Christian people on campus evolves from the inner peace and joy of Jesus Christ that abides in their hearts. As you enjoy this book now and in the years to come, remember that above all. this book is dedicated to the glory of the Lord, for without His guidance. Central Wesleyan College and the 1983 Centralian would only be a dream. As you continue your lives beyond CWC, my prayer for you is much peace, happiness, and joy always as you serve Him. God bless you. Amy Carver Editor 1983 Centralian
