WE SHOULDN'T CARE ABOUT r ?. - - ■_ ■ '5 J. s v c ■? THE LENGTH OF HIS HAIR OR THE COLOR OF HIS SKIN. 7 Everything is beautiful in its own way, like a starry summer night Or a snow-covered winter’s day; Everybody's beautiful in their own way. Under God’s Heaven The world's gonna find a way. There is none so blind As he who will not see. We must not close our minds, We must let our thoughts be free. For every hour that passes by You know the world gets a little older. It’s time to realize that beauty lies In the eyes of the beholder And everything is beautiful in its own way like a starry summer night Or a snow-covered winter's day; Everybody ’$ beautiful in their own way, Under God’s Heaven The world's gonna find a way. We shouldn't care about the length of his hair Or the color of his skin. Don’t worry about uhat shows from without But the love that lives within. We're gonna get it all together now And every thing's gonna work out fine. Just take a little time to look on the good side. My friend, And straighten it out in your mind. Although the sponsors and goals are different, all have one thing in common—fellowship and friendship with one another. 23 DRAMA CLUB BAPTIST STUDENT UNION 25 f 27 PEP CLUB 28 ROTC 30 STUDENT EDUCATION CLUB nil i 32 CENTRALIAN THE ACTIVITIES Tradition at Central includes the ever-popular custom of freshman initiation. Some of the day’s activities” are harmless, such as carrying upperclassmen's books, reciting stories at show and tell, and dressing up more than usual. Some are more grueling, such as 5 a.m. exercises while be- ing doused with cold water. For those who hold out till Rat Court at 6 p.m., sighs of relief and cries of revenge are the norm. 37 More tradition is in the very beneficial revivals, much ap- preciated and refreshing in themselves. This year’s fall revival was held by Dr. 0. Dale Emery. A gifted and sincere speaker, he and the community choir were living testaments and examples for all who attended services. 38 Missionary Convention at Central is always a learning ex- perience for those who become involved in the lectures and seminars. Visited by some distinguished guests, Central was left the richer this year when the convention drew to a close. Not only were we thrilled by the sounds and talents of our own choir and the college's representatives in the form of the Imperial Hi-way, but also by Erv Lewis. A big hit on college campuses, his Christian witness combined with his own special folk music is a very visible reason for his success in performance. 44 Music majors and music lovers always have good perfor- mances at Central Wesleyan during the year in the form of Junior and Senior Recitals. 45 The Christmas Banquet at Central Wesleyan is an annual affair. With good food, good music, and good company, the evening is always a welcome treat to students and faculty alike. Good News for Modem Man Hou is the success of an athletic season measured? Too often it is based upon the uon-lost record which the team has established This record how ever may not always be a good indication as to hou good or hou bad the team has actually play ed The supreme test of success hou:ever is within the heart of every participant, If, at the completion of every athletic event the player knows he has done his very best, then the game has been a successful ex- perience for him, whether it be a win or a defeat The 1974 varsity soccer team showed great improvement in comparison with their previous season of intercollegiate competition. The win column rose from one in 1973 to nine in 1974 Included within this total were wins over named schools such as Furman University and Western Carolina Perhaps the highlight of season however was the qualifying for the NAIA District 6 Playoffs, a first for Central Wesleyan College athletics Although the Warriors lost 2-1 to Erskme College in the first round of the play offs, many doubts were erased from individuals' minds as to the ability of the CWC booters C WC, the coach, or the fans could be no prouder of their play ers than with the performance of their 1974 varsity soccer team With tittle exception each player was able to say at the completion of a game, 7 have tried to do my best; therefore, I have nothing to be disheartened about 55 56 57 50 CENTRAL WESLEYAN SOCCER '74 7 2:00 A The Citadel 1-7 9 4:00 A Warren Wilson J 1-3 13 1:00 A Tennessee Temple To tamen t 0-3 14 1:00 A Tennessee Temple Ta k nament 3-0 16 3:00 H Toccoa Falb Inst it 2-4 3:00 H Covenant Collega M 2-3 wL L2:30 H Brevard College 4-1 f 3:00 H Warren Wibon 1-6 ir 3:00 A Guilford College 2-2 fi 7:30 A Western Carolina % 1-0 5 2:30 A Wofford College 7-0 7 3:00 H Furman University 1-0 10 3:30 A Toccoa Falb Institute . 2-1 19 3:00 A UNC-Asheville 1-1 22 3:00 H Montreat A nderson 3-0 24 3:00 H use 0-1 30 3:00 A Brevard College 3-0 2 2:00 i Montreat Anderson 4-0 7 3:00 A Erskine College 1-2 1 59 Basketball team, First Row (left to right); Matt Young, Rick Mabry, Henry Holmes, Jerry Whitfield, Jackie Boyd, Bob Shepard. With membership in the NAIA District 6, one of our goals has been accomplished. In our fifth year of intercollegiate basketball, u e are now recognized as having a competitive team in our district We hope to receive national attention in as short a time as possible. The road has been rough and long. However, the program is built on a strong foundation Our administrators faculty, students, alumni, and community are behind us. We have athletes and people who contribute in a positive way to our program. With such a solid foundation of support, surely the best is yet to come. Athletics must be educational in order for us to justify the expenditures. We must always strive to develop the academic, social, physical and moral values of our student athletes. As Bob Richards, former Olympic Champion, is quoted as saying, The determining factor of life is not ability but what you think you can do . you can stretch every aspect of your being if you are dedicated. 61 1974-1975 Central Wesleyan College BASKETBALL SCHEDULE Nov. 14 Piedmont Demorest, Ga. x 7:30 P.M 19 Woffad Central, S. Ladies and gentlemen of the Class, cherish a spiritual view of life in this sense of the wholeness of life under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Cherish a supernatural view of Christ; He is God manifest in the flesh. And then exhibit by the grace of the Savior a sacrificial view of yourself. God bless you. — Excerpted from an address by Dr. Paul S. Rees. THE VIRGINIA DISTRICT c Hie Wesleuan Church jeira m wishmtj the PWC CLfcS a Itjchmc 0 Chftthdfl service tvrul Qaai A. disfrjctujp't. I would also like to thank these people who, even tho they were not on the staff, gave many hours of volunteer labor to the book; Mary Beth Mull, Sandra Haithcock, Ed Hampton, and Tom Fortune who developed pictures, Trish Harlow, typist, and Dan Edmunds, who did art work. Most of all I would like to thank one person who, tho he was not on the staff either, did art work, developed pictures, helped with layouts, counted pages, and kept the editor sane for a semester. Greg, thank you, you were invaluable 158 inter collocficire press, inc
