We Dedicate ' Crystal Bennett I i CENTRAL WESLEYAN COLLEGE Central, South Carolina Dear Myrna and Crystal, What an experience we have to tell you! On the night of December 6, 1962, when we went to sleep, we never once thought of tragedy or sorrow of any kind; but early on December 7, at 1:45 a.m. we, that is all but you two, were awakened by the screams of “Fire.” All of us were herded out of the dorm. A little while later someone realized that two girls were not there—you two. At first we cried and worried about you—feeling sorry for you. But later we were made to realize a very astounding fact. Jesus came as a thief that night and stole you away from us. He kept you from suffering the sorrow and anguish that w'e felt. He protected you from the fire and the freezing weath- er. Could it be that he loved you more than us? Could it be that we have failed? Since the fire our students have been getting prepared to go to see you. We have many things to ask you. There is so much that we don’t under- stand. When we get to Heaven will you explain it all to us? We would love to see you, but we must spend a little more time in preparation. The President’s Message To the rich young ruler, Jesus said, Come take up thy cross and follow me.” This was the greatest challenge that had ever come to this promising young man. But he rejected this opportunity and went away sad, never to be heard of again in the sacred writings. To Peter and his companions on the sea of Galilee Jesus said, Follow me and I will make you fishers of men.” These sturdy fish- ermen heeded the challenge, left all, and fol- lowed the stranger of Galilee. The world has been blessed and made better by their dedi- cation and obedience. After nineteen centuries Christ is still chal- lenging youth with the commandment, “Fol- low me.” A call to discipleship is a call to preparation for service. You as students of Central Wesleyan College have heeded that challenge by choosing a Christian college in which to study. As you continue to follow Him, the world will be made better because of your life. The interesting scenes, charming people, and happy events depicted in this annual will bring back cherished memories of a faculty and student body who endeaver to follow Christ in all their activities.
