V..‘ ; r V; x -• Our CLOUDS OF MEMORY portray glimpses of the pleosant, carefree moments and the sober, character- building hours spent on College Hill. We endeavor to present to you Wesleyan Methodist College in its truest sense—a Christ-centered institution. As you leaf through these pages, note the intricate, interlocking activities, each aimed at the development of the in- dividual spiritually, intellectually, socially, physically, and aesthetically. For sofe-keeping of our memories we present the 1958 Cenfrolion. DEDICATION Doctor Burns: Often we wonder how one man is able to do so many different kinds of work so well. We marvel at the quiet, undislurbed manner in which you stay at the job- repairing washing machines, regulating furnaces, paying salaries, ordering all kinds of supplies as the Business Manager must; demonstrating and lecturing as a science professor usually does; and leading the College Sunday School as its super- intendent ought. Indeed, this institution would not be what it is today had you not given yourself to it as you have. We want you, Dr. Burns, to feel our appreciation for you, devoted to the cause of Christ and to us young people of Wesleyan Methodist College. For this reason we are happy to dedicate to you the 1958 edition of The Centralian. The Staff of '58 Page Seven OUR PRESIDENT R C. Mullinax A B, M A.. D O- The Centrahan staff and sponsors have done a marvelous work in depicting and perpetuating school life at W M. C. for the year soon to join the annals of the past. By this work of art the year will live on in cherished memory across the decades that lie ahead. Sincere congratulations for a task well done. Speaking or memories, the wisest man in the world once said, Remember now thy creator in the days of thy youth. It is criminal to forget some things. The wicked shall be cast into hell with all the nations that forget God. As time moves on, we shall fondly remember the happy events and interesting people that helped to make life pleasant on the campus. May we also remember our God who gave us the opportunity to learn in o Christian environment, and may we never forget the principles and standards we iearned at Central concerning the Christian life, Lord God of Hosts be with us yet, Lest we forget—lest we forget. ELLEN WILLIAMS High School FRANKIE SIMPSON High School Page Sixty-Six WHO’S WHO Places of honor are not at all new to Bob; foi during his eight years at Wesleyan Methodist Col lege he has won declamation contests, has been editor and business manager of the Collegian, and has led the student body as its president. His place in Who's Who, however, is not based on former merits alone; for he continually manifests those qualities of scholarship, leadership, and those talents which have always endeared him to acquaintances and friends. His work as pastor of the Seneca Wes- leyan Church manifested a deep spiritual life. For Bob we predict the hard work he insists upon and the success he merits. BOB FRENCH Bible College Four years ago Ellen enrolled in this school, a freshman in high school. From that day to this she has been developing a life worthy of honor. Her scholastic record and her literary ability, displayed by school publication work, have been consistently outstanding. She has led her class well as presi- dent, We admire her quiet, thoughtful life; and we desire God's very best for her. She has made a definite contribution to our school. If, from way off, the sound of music attracts your attention so much that you want to find out who is making it, you will probably find Frankie either playing the piano or singing with a group of stu- dents. She has used her talent much in Christian Service work as well as here at school. We appre- ciate her steady life and the characteristics of a true Christian girl that she possesses. Truly, her well- rounded, well-ordered life merits a place in this year's Who's Who. WHO'S WHO As president of the Keewonis Literary Society and the Foreign Missions Fellowship, Jimmy has ex- hibited careful leadership He was also an able business manager for the Colfegron. Thoughtful of others in study, work, or recreation, he displays Christ through his daily life. His concern for mis- sions and his participation in Christian Service have been a great influence for good. His quiet sincerity has gained for him respect during his four years at Wesleyan Methodist College. May God s blessing be upon his service in the years to come JIMMY WIGGINS Bible College Coming to Central from a successful pastorate, Mrs. Lackey has made a worthy contribution to the school in her scholastic attainment, her inspiring testi mony, and her consistent daily life. Enthusiastic and loyal, she boosts everthing of which she is a part. She finds ample time for her home and her son, ogether with her school activities. With ihese fine ecords as mother, churchwoman, and student, Mrs. .ackey merits this recognition in Who s Who. With ler sense of humor and courageous faith, she will Jver be found gladly serving the King. Many are the reasons why Ward should be :hosen for Who's Who. He has given his whole life js a student to the activities and interests of Wes- eyan Methodist College. In the choir, as chair- nan of the Christmas Float Committee, as treasurer f the Student Council, as chief barber on College Hill, and as president of the Philomathian Literary iociety his ability and greal character have been lisplayed. We appreciate his humble, spiritual life. SALLY LACKEY Junior College WARD FRENCH Junior College Page Si ty-$even FOOTBALL P. L. S.
