UEBELE MISS FREDA MYERS Sponsors S i; Ii ii ii 1 Sun ij (Tune: Columbia, the Gem of the Ocean ) 1. Oh! Wesleyan College, we love thee. Thy name we sincerely adore. Praise, honor, and laud do we give thee. To thee we will sing evermore. On the breast of ihe wide, surging ocean, In the forest, on mountain and plain, :S: Men shall know of our heart's true devotion, (fine) And list to our song of thy fame, (D. S.) :And list to our song of thy fame: 2. Oh! Wesleyan College, we love thee, Thy halls and thy campus are dear. May no harm ever come to molest thee, And God always bless thee with cheer. Thou fountain of wisdom and learning. We will drink of thy clear, crystal flood, :S: :S: Then out to the great world returning, (Fine) We will fight for the true and the good, (D. 5.) :We will fight for the true and the good: Oh! Wesleyan College, we'll love thee. When out from thy halls we have gone. Still bright may the skies be above thee, While we up life's pathway press on, When others our places have taken And strangers have entered thy door, In our mem'ry thou'lt ne'er be forsaken (Fine) And thy praises we'll sing evermore, (Q. S.) :And thy praises we'll sing evermore: Page Two To be a well-rounded individual one hot to develop in every aspect of his life. With her balanced program of activities. Cen- tral College has encouraged and helped us to get o brooder perspective of life. Every phose of our development is stressed. We have endeavored to show you these phases We therefore proudly present to you CENTRALIAN 1955! 111; il i c ii I i n ii One who has played an important part in the develop- ment of Central is our librarian. Since her arrival in the library many remarkable improvements have been made which have greatly aided our intellectual development. Her pleasant smile and friendly personality have truly made the library a pleasant place in which to be. She is ever willing to help, and to her fall many of the thankless jobs which others have no time for. In gratitude for her fine Christian example and encouragement of our development, the staff takes great pleasure in dedicating CtNTRALIAN 1955 to Mrs. Lee Evatt. DL The main criterion for judging the success of a college is the nature of her finished products. If a school has worthy objectives and accomplishes them, she has justified her purpose for existence. If she fails in either of these respects she does not deserve the confidence or support of her clientele. Central College has announced its purpose, to develop well-balanced Christian young people. To this end she has set up a program to meet the spiritual, intellectual, social, physical, and aesthetic needs of her students. Hers is not the skill of the sculptor who carves the cold lifeless stones into a work of art. Rather, it is hers to provide for the immortal youth committed to her care, learning situations in an atmosphere con- ducive to development of living beings, who will in time take their places as Christian citizens in a democracy, and as members of Christ's kingdom in the church and -n ihe world. Such is the duty of your Alma Mater. She can only succeed in her efforts as you, her sons and daughters, respond favorably to the situations created and grow into well-balanced Christian young people. Here, because of small classes and close teacher- student relationship, the student may receive much individual help in his class work and guidance in choosing a vocation. Central College is proud of the fact that those trained in her halls have gone forth to bless the world as ministers, teachers, doctors, nurses, missionaries, evangelistic singers, and the like. - fdor the rjCord giveth wisdom: out of h tts tnott tlx come 2th I nowfedge and understanding. Page Thirty-Nine 1 Spiritual D evelupment First things first is the motto of Central College. Accordingly, much emphasis is placed on the spiritual development of the student. By means of the Sunday services, mid-week prayer meeting, daily chapel services, re- vivals, and conventions he is aided in finding Christ and in maintaining a Christian experience. Practical experience in Christian work is afforded through the Christian Service Organization, which sends out groups to conduct jail services, Sunday schools, and special services on Sunday. The spiritual activities are a constant source of encouragement and inspiration. 66 to Ite Spiritually minded is (i e and 9! peace. ■v W. Y. P.
