 e c. PRESIDENT The present school year has marked the close of the first half of the twentieth century and the beginning of the second half. Standing at this mid point of the century and taking a retrospec- tive view, we see great strides of progress in the way of public education, inventicn, travel, com- munication, and knowledge of atomic energy. Dark blots on the picture are seen in the way of two World Wars, modernism, communism, crime, prevalence of divorce, and decay of morals. About face and we behold a mark of interroga- tion as to what the second half of the century holds in store. The answer to that question will be determined largely by the youth of today. Never before have we faced such possibilities and such responsibilities. It is only as the youth of our land have the light of Christian experience and training that they can arise to meet the situation. Central College stands ready to help them. DR. R. C.
