Rickman, one who loves God, man- kind, and righteousness. We, the members of' the staff, Wish to bestow upon him this little surprise and reward as an expression of our appreciation for his faithfulness and efficiency as our sponsor. For two years he has been the experienced adviser for the annual, and his noble spirit, sense of humor, patience, and un- tiring service have made the work enjoyable. Because of his consistent Christian life, his con- cern for the problems of youth, and his high scholastic aim, he has won the admiration of all. ,., l, rw m..,,,.......,,,.,,,?.....-,. .31 ,., ,. , ,,. ,sf s.,i,fm-4-,sears-2-.sw F- si Kiwggr as Q E M g is-gms a if -. s . - -- g ig W s B s E s W gm w yxkvlz ,555 B ,S B ,S 3 Q . iwgm. gr ag rf :,:.5,5:.:,-:rv:::4.,E:3,547f,. ff :: 3 -:mn sr 1 rr in mg:-5 53 mwwqlm E rr wwagsnsggawm gnni:,'wwwv,n sg- sr ings mums snags-ss .H W,-was sm sn, my -f'. - ---. - Wi.. as aww 1 s -, if mms rr . 1 . . Scientific research and experiments have placed at the disposal of mankind the powerful tools necessary to place the elements at the service of the human race. The destiny of modern civilization depends upon the question of Whether the youth of today will make a proper, or improper, use of their opportunities. Christian education will certainly prove a potent factor in determining the course our generation will charter. May the sons and daughters of W. M. C. ever be loyal to the ideals set before them in a Christian collegeg may they ever be true to the Christ they have come to knowg and may they do their best to disseminate the knowledge of the gospel of Christ, both in this fair land of ours that is threatened with materialism, hatred, strife, and war, as well as in the land of the shadows, where the gospel light has never gone. We never know what we are going to find in our hidden selves until we discover our- selves in God. Nothing is more tragic than to live without God which is a waste of our resources, ideas, physical strength, time, accumulated knowledge, and faith in ourselves. To live is something far more than the mere fact of existence, May this motto be ours: For me to live is Christ. C. , 'ff' C. T. BRYANT, Pastor REVIVALS RELIGIOUS No curriculum is complete unless it includes religious training to guide in spiritual develop- ment. Thus the primary aim of our school is to assist young people in making preparations for practical Christian service in whatever voca- tion they choose to pursue. The college During the school year we have had two revivals. Our evangelist for the fall revival was Reverend David A. Reese, assistant agent for the Wesleyan Methodist connection, of Syra- cuse, New York. Prayer began to prevail great- ly upon the campus, and an unscheduled series of services were begun with Reverend E.. L. Cunby, pastor of Easley Mill Church, Easley, South Carolina, as speaker. Through their searching messages many found peace with Cod. ACTIVITIES church, an afliliated institution, is a place where we gather for spiritual food and divine guid- ance. The Christian training received through the religious activities of the school has con- tributed much toward the shaping of decisions in the lives of many young people. THE COLLEGE CONFERENCE W. Y. P. S. Downhearted students may go for a spiritual up-lift to the W. Y. P. S. assemblies each Sun- day evening. It is a blessing to hear the singing, praying, testimonies, and programs of those who love God and are concerned about those who are out of the fold. This service helps to create a good atmosphere for the one that follows. MISSION ARY PRAYER MEETING Every Thursday evening a group of young people assemble to enjoy Christian fellowship in praying for missionaries, singing and testify- ing for Christ. Exhortations are given that help us to be able to pray for others. 5,9 ,,..-nav' C? ig Q' COLLEGE CONFERENCE A group of the most spiritual students makes groups conduct services at the old folks' home, up the College Conference. They meet each jail, and colored and white Sunday schools in Monday eveningg on Saturday they hold street l-leadtown. God richly blesses their sincere services, and on Sunday afternoons separate efforts to carry the gospel to others. 4 I K rx he ss W ,Ei -is X. as . 2' , sag s I' 2 w The Warren Twins We appreciate the willing and cooperative spirit shown to our school and churches by Loney and Phroney Warren. The call in Christian lands is to convince those who have heard, but havenot accepted the Gospel, that it is the power ol God unto salvation for them. Because of the resent stress that is being placed on higher educa- tion, the junior colllege student, having completed the two most difii- cult years of college work, should consider further study -toward a degree a matter of necessity. Itis A Matter of Choice . . . The school in which one finishes college work is a matter of per- sonal choice. In the decision, however, three things demand attention: accreditation, atmosphere, and aim. Accreditation assures the student full recognition of his degree by medical schools, seminaries, and other graduate schools, proper atmo here grants him a high grade of efliciency and a wealth of undefindhle spiritual, moral, and cultural values, a worthy aim gives him added incentive to scholarly applica- tion. It's A Matter for Consideration . . . Houghton is a school to be considered by 'unior college graduates. Located in a wholesome community, free flrom the distractions of urban environment, Houghton is a fully accredited college giving major and minor credit in sixteen different fields, and granting bache- lor degrees in liberal arts, science, and music. In an atmosphere that is distinctly Christian, its faculty and staff are devoted to the one aim of preparing Christian students for Christian service in all of the pro essions.
