Jesus taught us this lesson by His life and His word. In Matthew 10:39 He says, “He that shall lose his life for my sake shall find it.” If we are to be happy and successful, we must forget our petty troubles and strive to lift someone else’s burdens. This is truly the purpose of every member of the Freshman class. We are preparing ourselves, not to gain wealth and fame in the world, but to be a blessing to others; and we are striving to have the unselfish spirit portrayed by the poet in these lines: “Lord, let me live from day to day In such a self-forgetful way That even when I kneel to pray My prayer shall be for others.” . 22 .
