No matter how long it took to obtain that degree or at what age the quest began, each individual changes in his or her own special way, modifying ideas, habits and viewpoints. These are changes that will be carried with each of us as we make our way through life beyond Central. Learning . . . Doing . . . Growing. Together the class of 1981 has shared many unique experiences that will be relived in our memories for years to come. We gain Insights into ourselves, others and the complex world in which we live As knowledge grows, so do ideas, understand ing and personal dreams, goals and worth And behind the frus¬ trations of papers and tests, be hind the long hours spent In the library, studio or practice room Is a community of students and professors dedicated to knowl¬ edge ... to growth. William James Obviously, life at Central was not totally dedicated to the pursuit of education, a vast amount of ttme and energy was spent with peo pie—meeting them, exchanging ideas, sharing good times and bad . . . and sometimes, beginning lifelong friendships Friends . . those special people who can make the pressures of marathon studying, impossible classes and unsympathetic professors seem bearable. They give us laughter, support, a chance to find our¬ selves . . . and to grow. Hi A wide range of activities offered at Central provided students with an opportuni¬ ty to be involved and meet people as well as a break from academic pressures. The Associated Students of Central and the Residence Hall Council sponsored entertain¬ ment such as the annual hump-bum p-glunk day in the spring, rrvcr floats, guest speakers, weekend dances, and Thursday evening movies. Special homecoming ac tlvttles Included a run for fun, a parade through town and the usual Casino Royale dance and football game Intramural sports furnished men and women with physical activity and competition while splrutual needs were met by various church groups. The drama, muse and art departments allowed creative students to exhibit their tal¬ ent to their peers and the community. Other departments also offered additional ex¬ perience for mtcrcsted students m a wide variety of dube. Providing a chance for involvement by athletes and fans alike, sports have always played a major role in college life. As dedicated men and women devoted physical and emotional energy Into their particular sport, others, watching from the sidelines, encouraged their best efforts Fans supplied support and enthusiasm in what was a fa ' vorite Wildcat pastime. Growing in personal ability and pride, each athlete carried a sense of team comradeship that became an Impor¬ tant part of their experience at Central; an experience which, for many, ended their athletic career.
