Varsity Strove For Poise Throughout The Season The varsity team was very young this year. There were only 2 seniors on the team, 2 sophomores, and 7 juniors. This did not effect the teams ability, or deter- mination to win. They started pre-season play with 2 championships and 8 straight wins. First they won the SUI-ISD Tournament, then the Mckinleyville Tourny. Junior Sarah Rowley was awarded MVP of both tour- nies. Debbie Larmour, Stacey Bartlett and Roberta Lawson all received all- tourny awards. The varsity won 8 straight games, then they traveled to Yreka hoping to make it 9. They failed losing 60-64. Next they went up against the undefeated Anderson team. They were beat 50-56. CV was not discouraged by their 2 losses. They strived for poise all season, and were not ready to give up the league championship because of 2 losses. 1. Sarah Rowley fights for a rebound. 2. Roberta Lawson shoots over defenders. 3. They lost both of those, but came back to win their next 2 games against Shasta and Yreka before losing to Ander- son and Red Bluff. They were really determined to win, even though the team felt Coach Fehliman didn't have much confidence in them. They didn't let this affect themg they tried even harder.
