Their coach was Mrs. Olson, a student teacher at CV. This was her first year coaching volleyball, and she did a great job. Originally, 20 girls tried out for the team, but.. by the end of the season, there remained only 6. Although the team didn't win any league matches, they did win a match against Mercy High School of Red Bluff. All of the players increased skill and knowledge of the game during the season. Therese Kamela was an outstanding player, playing both front and back row. Pam Davis also played both front and back row. Shelli Korteum was the team's setter. 'I GX, C1 1 !12 1 75- Varsity Volleyball Won A League Game For The First Time In 3 Years For the first time in 3 years the varsity volleyball team won not only 1 but but 3 league games. There were many changes this year. The team didn't have a coach for 2 weeks into the season. The new coach, Mrs. Pat Chase, had 10 years of previous coaching experience in various col- leges in Hawaii and Southern Califor- nia. C.V. was her first high school team. The team received some new game plans from Chase, a multiple offense and an international 4.2 of- fense. The team's skills grew tremen- dously over the season. Coach Chase 1. Front Row: Heidi Suess, Sabrina How- ard, Darla Sivey, Jennifer Parry, Ter- ry Stinson, Stacey Bartlett, Anh Troung, Kathy Mclntosh. 2nd Row: Renee Chesson, Danelle Chapman, Julie Jones, Chris Riggs, Debbie Lar- mour, Tammy Stinson, and Coach Pat 54 Volleyball tried to specialize players in the back row. Terry Stinson, Jennifer Parry and Anh Troung were all excellent back row players said Chase. She also tried to specialize players: spiker Debbie Larmour, setters Sabrina Howard and Stacey Bartlett. Julie Jones and Darla Sivey specialized in both front and back row play. The team really knew how to put on a show. Their match against Yreka last- ed for 3 hours and was decided in the last game.
