Bank Of America Awards 14 Students Honored By Bank Of America. Four top-ranking seniors have been presented with Bank of America Achievement Awards, Brett Mary- mee, science and mathematics, Fletcher Alford, liberal arts, Bonnie Mauzey, vocational arts, and Bill Burkhead, fine arts. They all received a personally engraved plaque and se- lected students competed on March 25, with students from other high schools. Judging at this zone event was done by a panel of business and community leaders who based their decisions on written compositions, group discussion, scholarship, civic, and school activities. Along with the top-ranking seniors were ten other seniors, who received Certificates of Merit for a superior performance in a specific study field: Ron Gilmore, art, Eric Harris, musicg Heather Rolfe, English, Stacy Bart- lett, foreign language, Tom Lowery, social studies, Mike Williams, labora- tory science, Danetta Fecke, math, Traci Espeuschied, business, Renee Chesson, home economics, and Wes Patton, trades and industrial. First place winners in this event ad- vanced to the regional finals. The sec- ond, third, and fourth place zone win- ners in each field received 3100, 375, and 350. In the finals zone winners com peted with each other for a top prize of 32000, 31000, and 3750. She stayed with the Duran family in a town called LLay-LLay, which is not far from the capitol of Santiago, Chile, Her host father in Chile owns a barber shop and her mother owns a bou' tique. She had a younger sister and two younger brothers. Before departure, Jennifer was excited about the trip and said, lt will be a way of proving I can stand on my own two feet. When Jennifer left, she flew to Miami for an orientation on the year of living in a foreign country.
