PROJECT SMASH! The Annual bridge building contest oc- curred on December 15. Brett Mary- mee had the strongest bridge that held 93 lbs. The weakest was 4 lbs. built by Greg Ramsey. Mr. Ashcraft's physics class took part in the bridge building contest. Each stu- dent was given 3O ft. of 3f32 inch balsa wood, one tube of testors glue, a com- plete list of rules, and two weeks in which to complete their bridge. Every student had to draw their own plans and do all the work at home. The smash has been going on for the last eight years. Six years ago Mr. Don- iak built a bridge that held 222 lbs. Since then Mr. Ashcraft has disqualified Mr. Doniak and his design from the contest. Project Smash helps the students find the strongest possible structure and at the same time have a lot of fun, exclaimed Mr. Ashcraft. ., it .. ,, fi
