The Music Dpt. Went On The Road. The band played at the North Cal. Music Con- test, the Tracy Band Review April 28th at Great America, the Rodeo Parade, Shasta Damboree Parade, graduation, and elementary schools in the area. The Jazz Band toured the area schools, played at Reno, the Lions Club, and the Spring Music Show. The Swing Choir performed at the Reno Jazz Festival the 13th, 14th, and 15th of March, the Lions Club State Convention the 2nd of May, the Spring Music Review May Sth and 6th, graduation, and Shasta College. The music dept. consists of a Swing Choir, Stage Band, Marching Band, Jazz Ensemble, and Concert Band. The music dept. performed with the encourage- ment and direction of Mr. Tucker, who is very outgoing and puts out a lot of his own time and money to help them perform. Togetherness is an important part of the music dept. All care part of a family with Mr. Tucker as the fatherly figure backing them up. At Christmas the music dept. carolled convalescent homes and per- formed in the winter concert. Many students have formed lasting relationship and they cele- brate at parties together after performances and for birthdays. For the Reno Jazz Festival Mr. Tucker brought in a choreographer named Tamar to teach them the dances and songs. The show choir 2 songs included, The Rose , Jump Shout Boogie , Games People Play , Turn the Beat Around , Late in the Evening . The show choir 1 songs were: Fame , On Broad- way , l Just Want to Dance With You , At the Hop , Run Around Sue , t'Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band , 'Breaking up is Hard to don. l. Mr. Tucker and the Swing Choir perform Jump Shout Boogie , during the homecoming rally. 2. Jill Perry, Tina Pruitt, Jeff Kelly, Nancy Alvord, Brenda Brazil, Julie Dillon, and Becky Carlson sing Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer during the Winter Con- cert. 3. Joe Leake, Carolyn Flesauras, David Mitch- ell, Tlm Looper, Wendy Castelbano, Dawna Helwlg, Jeff Kelly, Stephanie Caudle, and Heather Rowlfe practicing the Rose for the Reno Festival. 4. Bill Burkhead, Darla Sivey. James Cepner, Tammy God- dard, Chuck LaHorgue, and David Cassano play in the Stage Band during the Winter Concert. 5. Deb- bie Larmour, Darlene Gaynor. and Shery Ferguson demonstrate abilities on the flute. 6. Rockin' Out With The Hillbillies The annual Sadie Hawkins dance was sponsored by the Music Dept. on Febru- ary 30 from 9:00-12:00, a tradition at C.V. for oxger 20 years. Couples danced to record of AC-DC and other popular groups, and enjoyed relaxing on hay bails. This is the only dance where girls ask the guys to the dance iofficiallyj. The dance was a success and helped the Music Dept. earn approx. 5300.00 towards Reno. All week Daisy Maes and Lil Abners collected money for class competition. The Daisy Maes were Renee Cheison, seniorg Susan Quirus, junior, and Denise Brown, sophomore, The Lil' Abners were Mike Corbell, seniorg Randy Rodriguez, junior, and Daryl Macintyre, soph- omore. The winning class were the juniors with over 3100.00 Meanwhile Marry'n Sam lMr. Bergstroml performed marriage services at his booth. Nancy Alvord married Linda Thetford, Danny Olson to Linda Dominguez, Gail Meek to Rich Dehemmer, Debbie Lar- mour-Brian Weissman, Suzanne Wood mar- ried Greg Beaton, Venton Trotter to Wendy Rehberg, and Tim Coates to Gail Peterson. At 12:00 somewhat regretfully all turned home- ward iwith their marriages annulledi. 1, Mike Barkley and Milsa Cordem exchange wed, ding rings. 2. Gail Meek and Rich Dehlemmer await their mar- riage while Mr. Bergstrom tMarry'n Sami unites Bill Cox to Holly Lighter. 3. Joe Leake and Heather Rolfe work at the re- freshment stand, waiting on Eric Harris. 4. Mike Corbell and Renee Cheison, the Daisy Mae and Lil Abner for the seniors. 5. Susan Quirus and Randy Rodriguez, the winning junior class Daisy Mae and Lil Abner in the money competition. 6. John Houser and Dina Rose after their marriage show off their license. 7. Misty Kallbough, Ron Dillings, Alice Kallbaugh, Alan Meeker, Keith Brown, and Peggy Kallbaugh enjoy themselves at the dance. 8. Marry'n Sam iMr, Bergstroml giving wedding vows. 9.
