,A Silent Picture Comes to an End Our story begins in the school year 1954-55. The character in this uni- que story is Anton Rasmussen. At the age of 29 he comes to work at Central Valley High School as a teacher, head football coach, and head track coach. Teaching everything there was to teach, with the exception of English, Hass not only gained respect from the staff but popularity with the stu- dent body. There were no free periods in those days, so I had a pretty full schedule, said Rass. As head coach ot both football and track, he gained the reputation of being fair and respected. History teacher Ron Knudsen, said, The kids always played hard and won for him and they will never forget him. In 1960 he relinquished his coach- ing position on the track team to Clayton Mitchel to begin the coun- seling department as head counsel- or. In 1962, he relinquished his posi- tion as head football coach to Gary Davis. The big event in 1962 was Rass becoming Vice Principal. I have never known another admini- strator who cared more about 'his kids'. It is hard for a Vice Principal to care so much when his job is discipline, said English teacher, Mary Zografos. For 27 years Rass has committed himself to Central Valley, the faculty, and the students. It is with sadness that we bid a fond farwell to our be- loved Rass. He is retiring with the class of '81 to rest and take the leisure that he deserves. He has the right to be self- ish and have some time with his family , said colleague, KathyIrwin. Rass - from the class of '81, the student body, and the faculty - goodbye. We love you. TOP FAR LEFT: During Spirit Week, Bass lights everyone up with a bonfire. TOP MIDDLE: In 1970, as Vice Principal, Russ works hard trying to improve the school. BOTTOM RIGHT: In 1967, Hass is still Mr. Congeniality as Vice President. MIDDLE RIGHT: In 1955, it is Rasa' first year as foot- ball coach. TOP RIGHT: In 1957, Rass is two years older and he still is holding his football. 31

Th P les' Ch 'ce Our A.S.B. officers this year have ' put on a great show for us and have proven to be great leaders. Among the accomplishments of the 1980-81 school year was the Leadership Con- ference at Ross Point, an exciting spirit week with a bonfire, sing-a- long and spirit breakfast, and a Christmas caroling party for the entire school. The officers held student council meeting every first and third Wed- nesday of each month and got new blue sweaters for themselves and the other members of the student coun- sel. They also planned some spring events so that the students had some- thing to release their spring fever energy. With the help of Mr. Hafner they made the school year one that everyone would remember. 9. 1Pl?'l?1'7I7ll rr'r F lf'r'r1-UF 'SEED ffffllf From Left to Right: Terry Ota, Parliamentarian, Rick Sloan, Vice Presidents, Iohn Meyers, Sgt. at Arms.
