DEDICATION The 1970 La Solana staff is proud to dedicate this book to Mr. David Murray. Mr. Murray's desire to help Central and its stu- dents realize their full abilities has been evident in his seven years here. Unlike his first six years at Central teaching algebra, geometry, social studies, and life science, Mr. Murray has de- voted this year to his new position as Director of Student Activities. He accepted this position in what he describes as his moment of in- sanity. Although these were his words, his actions prove he is quite a sane and enthusiastic addition to Central's administrative leadership. Two of Mr. Murray's goals this year were to pro- mote greater school spirit and to provide the broad activities program of a larger campus. He feels that the fulfillment of these goals would contribute greatly to Central's improvement. We thank you, Mr. Murray. Your tireless efforts are well worthwhile. GQ 5 gi! iaiwivll

Crowding Compensated The crowded quad, the hustle-bustle of students, hurried hellos, and the victory flag flying high characterized Central this year. With over 2,000 students on campus an expan- sion in the curriculum was necessary. For this reason 130 different courses were offered. About 75'!o of the student body took classes necessary to further their education, with one third of these students following pure college prep tracts. The remaining 2505 concentrated on vocational preparation. The greatest expansion in the pro- gram has been in the vocational and occupa- tional fields. Some of the recent additions were auto pretechnology, merchandising, and tractor driving. Also new was the work experience pro- gram involving more than 100 students, with great growth expected. This year brought the Victory Bell, the new dress code, a revised form of student government, the new classrooms and courses. All these and much more has made this year at Central nearly the best of all possible years.
