Despite the cold winds, icy snows, and short overcast days, the Winter Quarter did not lack its share of mild weather and special events to add variety to the campus scene. The Rev. Jesse Jackson opened the Winter Quarter Convocation series with a standing room only crowd. Winter Convocations in- cluded personalities such as journalist Tony Brown, and actor William Marshall. The art de partment continued in its offerings of fine art exhiblts. One such exhibit was the collection of African art from the private collection of Robert Stull, associate dean of the College of Art, Ohio State University. The music depart- ment offered a series of lectures and student and faculty recitals. The Springfield String Quartet, a recital by faculty member Peter Johnson on guitar and a piano recital by fac- D 1 ' -f ' I I lf ulty member Mary Fahrenbruck were a few of the programs offered. January, February and March seemed slow In passing but were packed with numerous .activities and events. Twenty participants in the CSU Employment and Training Program re celvecl certificates for completing a Pre-Al lied Health Skill Delivery Training Program. Stu- dents Gilbert Klttrell and William Dillard received Army commissions. Williamson Hall's third floor won 1st place in the dormitory's Valentines Day decorating contest. The Charter Day Convocation observed the 93rd anniversary of Central State University as an educational service. Seniors began to count days until June graduation and once again fl nal exams became the last and most impor- tant special event of the Quarter. E-Flu . 5 l

The recital was part of the degree re qulrements in music education. Both Donn and Anthony were members of the CSU Jazz Ensemble and members of the Marching and Concert Bands.
