Wlthin a few seconds on April 3 ot that year more than half ofthe Unlversity's facllltles were wlped out as a tornado struck the campus and nearby communltles. Sixteen bulldlngs were rav- aged beyond repair, and others whlch wlthstood the storm requlred extensive rennovation. Students were sent home whlle emergency repairs were made, and In spite of a short recess the Class of 1974 was graduated on schedule. Other projects in the rebuilding include the Admlnls- tration Building, the Community Health Center, the Paul Robeson Cultural and Performlng Arts Center, the GaIlowayfAlumnl Tower, and the Presldent's Resl dence.
