Clark Terry Clark TBITY Gnd NCNWCD Davis The All-Star Jazz Concert on May 24 in the Paul Robe son Cultural and Performing Arts Center concluded the 1980 Festival of the Arts. Featured musicians were ldris Muhammad, drummer, formerly with Roberta Flack: Geraldine Allen, a former member of Donald Byrd and the Black Byrdsg Mike Taylor, bass, formerly with Ahmad Jamal: Dr. Nathan Davis, saxophone and flute, formerly wlth Art Blakey: and Clark Terry, trumpet, the naflonally and Internationally acclaimed Father of Jazz Trumpet. Rounding out this outstanding combo was Central State's own Dr. William Komla Amoaku, percussion, who provided the jazz link with Africa. Oth er actlvltles in the Festival included the CSU Dance Group, the Grotraln Quarter featuring Mary Fahrenbruck of the CSU muslc faculty on plano, the CSU Jazz Ensemble, an art show ln the Robeson Center Gallery and a variety ot theatre and art workshops. df D Q-an ldl'lS MUhOl'T'llTl0d

Seniors who worked at WCSU-FM radio andfor on television projects in the Telecom munlcatlons Center were honored with plaques at the annual Telecommunications Awards Banquet in the Spring Quarter. TOP: Students had an opportunlty to speak with area media professionals, and Cathy Patterson, a junior from New York City, took the opportunlty to discuss career opportuni ties with Don Coleman of WELX-FM radio in Xenia. MIDDLE: Barbara Frledmann, communl ty affairs director at WCSU, Introduced the honorees, and Booker Schooler, president of the Friends of WCSU presented an award to Jeffery Dennis. BOTTOM: Seniors honored at the banquet were Cfrom lefty Larry Sanderlin, Ron Strahorn and Jeffery Dennis, who were congratulated by RoNita Hawes, community affairs director at WPTD-WPTO-TV 14-16, who was the featured speaker for the evening program in Mercer Cafeteria. .it
