RITERS K BL Black Writers View the Eighties: Evolu- tion, Stagnation or Renewed Struggle? Was the theme of the three day confer- ence sponsored by the department of English in May. The conference included general sessions and small workshops. Visiting writers and humanities scholars from area colleges and universities, as well as membersrs of the audience, interacted in discussing views of the eighties in the areas of children's litera- ture, mass media, editing and publishing, drama, fiction, literary criticism, Affirician and Caribbean literature and poetry.
