Campus life become leisurely once again. Special events and activities for Spring Quarter were fewer than before. Spending time out-of-doors and off campus seemed to be the most popular activities. Seniors were busy counting days until graduation. Underclassmen were anticipating the soon to come rise in stature from freshman to sophomore, sophomore to iunior and junior to' senior, at last! The Spring Convocation series began with special guest, Georgia State Senator Julian Bond. Other spring Convo- cations speakers included Congressman Louis Stokes, Rev. Otis Moss and poet Nikki Giovanni. The English de- partment sponsored a Black Writers Conference. Among 1 - its-A 'Q' . B the guests were Mari Evans, Haki Madhubuti, Val Gray Ward and John Oliver Kittens. Special convocatlons in cluded the freshman oratorical contest and the Honors Day Convocation with speaker Dr. Samuel Proctor, dean of education at Rutgers University. The art department exhibited the sculptures ot Ed Hamilton of Louisville, Ken tucky. The Inter-Faith Campus Ministry sponsored the per- formance ot the Worlds Smallest Circus and the Mag- ic ln the Air worshipfworkshop program with guests Dr. Edward Bonnemer and Rev. Kenneth D. Larkin. Pre-registration for summer classes began May 5th and graduation day drew closer. Once again students pres pared for final examinations and seniors prepared for the ultimate special event, Commencement 1980. 1 t 9 fx 4.4 A . ,,.
