A man of splendid physique, clean-cut and with excellent military bearing, one of the company's ablest bayonet instructors, a man fresh from college where he led as president of its student body, a man whom to see and know was to admire and like, a Christian gentleman and a good friend,-such a man was Candidate Kellogg. We mourn his loss as a friend and our sincere sympathy goes This book has been published by the candidates and for the candidates, to furnish something tangible to which to turn and fondle when recalling and contemplating the good old days. It is to be regretted that some of our can- didates do not appear in the platoon pictures, a misfor- tune caused by their being on duty elsewhere when it chanced that the pictures were taken. However, they were in the army then and those things did happen. The old days are no more. The days of the gargle, the skin, dusting up the old piece, scrubbing the kitchen floor, doubling your shivering shins out to dive into the clammy bed under the glittering stars-all these are things of the past. lt is well.
