Soon you'll find them wearing golden bars, Maybe silver bars, some with silver stars. Twenty-Sixth, you'll always find them ready To answer Uncle Sammy's call. Old Fritz is in for an awful razz, When he butts into our pep and jazz, So if you're not with the Twenty-Sixth, You're not with the crowd at all. TEN LITTLE CANDIDATES Ten little candidates standing in line, One raised his hands in ranks, then there were nine. Nine bewildered candidates in danger of the gate, One didn't show the pep, then there were eight. Eight nervous candidates should have prayed to Heaven, One was an atheist-soon there were seven. Seven anxious candidates in the bunch from Dix, One flunked in his exams-total left was six. Six flustered candidates, all were skinned alive, One was skun too many times, leaving only five. Five husky candidates, enlisted for the war, One declared peace for himself, now the sum was four. Four determined candidates, three other boys and me, Bay'net drill used one all up-count us now, weire three. Three exhausted candidates-one contracted fiu,,' Sneezed his way into the Base, roll call now for two. Two frantic candidates drilled with book and gun, Benzine Board got in its work-class consists of one. One lucky candidate-was finally commissioned a second lieuten- ant of the U. S. Reserve Corps, and bought his gold bar, leather puttees, new hat cord 'n ev'rything-now there is 110119. -W. P. GRAY. Of all the Fifth Battalion who has the speed and pep? Of all the Fifth Battalion who has the greatest rep? the Fifth Battalion who knows the trade and tricks? can only be one answer and that's the Twenty-Sixth. GUARD DUTY! K. P.! Rifle! Home! Real Bed!
