The purpose ot the club is to promote interest in current research and scientific events. The programs include talks bv guest speakers, scientific and educational movies, and reports on recent discoveries in phvsical science by members ot the club, Several members ot the club at- tended the Biennial Student Meetings ot the lndiand Section ot the American Chemical Society, The club anticipates a growth in the next tevv years that will parallel the growth ot the department. .-541

Second Row-lVlcl3ride, Wecdell, Jones, Third Row---Deal, Farrell, The English Club was founded in the fall of l936 with twenty seven charter members, lt had as founder and sponsor Dr. P. l-l. Canary, and as assistant sponsor Miss Bertha Watts, During the year of '37 and '38 many interesting and varied programs were held among which was the Founder's Day program with Dr, Canary the main speaker. This year for the first time the club is sponsoring a magazine to be known as Belles l.ettres . This magazine will be entirely the literary work of the students on the campus. Awards will be given to the outstanding articles.
