M CM urry Hall McMurry Hall, a dormitory for men, was built by the lohn Epple Construction Company, the archi- tects being Trueblood and Graf of St. Louis, Missouri. The ground was broken on April 28th, 1927, and the cornerstone 'ceremony was held lune 23rd. On Tues- day, November 15, 1927, the dormitory was dedicat- ed by Bishop W. F. McMurry and Frank C. Rand of St. Louis delivered the dedicatory address. QCAQVJ Dean of Men - and Director of McMurry Hall The dormitory is named in honor of Bishop W. F. McMurry, president of Central College, 1924- 30. It is a four-and-a-half story brick building in the simple architectural style of the English country house. It provides, in addition to dormitory rooms for two hundred young men, a comfortably furnished lobby and living room, a spacious dining hall, a club room, kitchen and storage rooms.

Luther T. Spayde Dean oi the Swinney Conservatory of Music The original Centenary Methodist Church was built in 1884. It stood on the western side of the campus with Science Hall to the north and Cupples Hall to the east. Preaching services were held up- stairs in the auditorium while the lower department was used for Sunday School and league meetings and as a lecture room by the college. The new Linn Memorial Methodist Church was completed in 1931. It is made of Bedford stone and is connected by arcades with the Swinney Conserva- tory on the north and the Parish House on the south. Linn Memorial Church The auditorium, finished in zenotherm and furnished with antique oak, has a seating capacity for 1200 people. The ground floor of the building is the Col- lege Chapel which serves for student assemblies and public services. The Cross Memorial Stone Tower at the east of the College Church has a base of 24 feet by 36 feet and a height of 96 feet. The walks leading to the entrance of the chapel pass beneath archways of stone. The tower was a gitt of Iames Thomas Cross and is a memorial to his parents, wife and children.
