EVERYWHERE THERE IS DESTRUC- TION, YET EDUCATION SUCH AS WE ARE RECEIVING, GREATER THAN ANY WARLIKE WEAPON, WILL PROVE A GUIDING FORCE TO THE PEACE THAT IS AHEAD. IN THIS YEAR OF 1944 WE ARE STRIVING TO FORM A MORE PERFECT UNION IN THIS WORLD OF DISUNION, TO ESTABLISH JUSTICE IN THIS WORLD OF INJUSTICE, TO INSURE DOMES- TIC TRANOUILITY IN THIS WORLD OF WAR, TO PROVIDE FOR COMMON DEFENSE IN THIS WORLD OF HOSTILE AGGRESSION, AND TO INSURE THE BLESSINGS OF LIBERTY IN THIS WORLD DEPRIVED OF FREEDOM. THESE AIMS POSTULATE A MODE OF LIVING THAT HAS GUIDED AMERICANS FOR ALMOST TWO CENTURIES, AND EMBODY A WAY OF LIFE THAT AMERICAN MEN AND WOMEN CONSIDER WORTH FIGHTING FOR TO- DAY. IN THESE AIMS WE HAVE THE THEME WHICH TYPIFIES MILITANT DEMOCRACY IN OUR COUNTRY, IN THE FIELD OF EDUCATION, AND MORE SPECIFICALLY HERE IN OUR COLLEGE. FOR HERE IN OUR COLLEGE YOUNG MEN OF THE ARMED SERVICES AREBEING EDUCATED TO BE LEADERS NOT ONLY IN THE BATTLE ZONES, BUT ALSO IN THE POST-WAR WORLD, AND WITH CIVILIAN MEN AND WOMEN ARE ALREADY REALIZING THE GOOD WAY OF LIFE. LET US NEVER FORGET THE IMPORTANCE OF A TRUE IDEAL PEACE IN THE WAKETOF VICTORY. WITH TRUE DEMOCRACY AS THE FOUNDATION OF OUR ACADEMIC AND SOCIAL ACTIVITIES WE CANNOT FAIL, FOR THE COLLEGE STUDENTS OF TODAY WILL DETERMINE THE FATE OF THE INEVITABLE PEACE.
