ALICE LARIVEE It is fitting that Mrs. Larivee, our librarian, is important in our story because it is she who has helped us keep all our stories in order. Not only has she helped us but many students before us. Since 1941 Mrs. Larivee has found that certain book or suggested sources of information for that term paper. For all her assistance and interest, we thank our friend, Mrs. Larivee. xqw 'E fx . ni' xv' 2 B vweq INTRODUCTION w.Mm.,. ADMINISTRATIO SENIOR HIGH C SENIOR ACTIVI N .......... This is one of the many meetings our staff attends. In addition to classroom teaching our faculty has many other responsibilities. There are activities to sponsor, clubs to advise, sports to coach and plays and other programs to direct. The school year is a busy one. I 0 O Z Z X MR. Q The library is a favorite of many students as the spot to study. Here references of all sorts are available. Ready assistance and in- struction on how to find needed materials makes the preparation of assignments much easier. Our library also is an attractive place to study. Its windows topped with glass bricks to the ceiling provide ample light and a bright atmosphere. The natural wood adds further to the room's appeal. Mrs. Larivee and her library assistants arrange interesting dis- plays to inform Central Kitsap students. fs! +R M is Ei? Y 0 . O o O .I 3 3 s o s ., s 5 1 s .X Q 0 'io f-an 'A I is 'Zed ,, - R - . . SENIOR HISTORY IS REVIEWED The story of the class of 1956 begins in our freshman year where most of our activities were in sports and music. Traditionally as sophomores we decorated for Baccalaureate. In our sophomore year we became the first class to enjoy the football lights all during senior high. As juniors, our class became even more active as we presented the junior play, Room For One More, and the one-act play, Time Out For Everythingv in the One-Act Play Tournament. We were also in charge of the college conference, deco- rated for commencement, and had several bake sales and soc-hops. The two highlights of our junior year were the Junior Prom, Pagoda Paradise, and the Junior-Senior Banquet. During our last year, the class danced at the Senior Ball, Starlight Wonderland, and were the guests at the Junior-Senior Banquet. We also decorated for Home- coming and presented the Senior Play, '4Papa Was a Preacher, and the senior one- act play, A Girl In Every Portf, Our class sponsored bake sales and soc-hops, and directed all of the one-act plays. Among the many highlights of the year was the senior excursion to Victoria. The many activities of graduation week climaxed our exciting years. The first of these was the Junior Play, The Remarkable In- cident at Carson Corners, which had a suspense-filled plot. Next, we received our class rings and pins, whose design was called, The New Slant. We also beat the Seniors in the annual basket- ball game and had six girls rep- resented as cheerleaders and song leaders. Of course, two of the most thrilling events were the Junior- Senior Banquet and the Junior Prom. And, as seniors-to-be, we decorated for commencement. The class also sponsored a sock-hop. With our Junior year behind us now, we're all looking forward to a wonderful Senior year, filled with many wonderful times and events. Junior Class Advisor MR. X Votes are being cast here for and against the student court. This was the major issue in student government at Central Kitsap this year. At this election the student body voted to establish the student court. Elections such as this and elections for offices are just some of the means through which we learn about democratic government and practice its prin- ciples in our activities. Our clubs and other organizations give us the opportunity to train for citizenship. In these groups we are able to express ourselves, our activities, and our interests. These same organizations plan social events and we have the chance to become bet- ter acquainted and to have the fun of doing things together. I I I S is XA E ,453 F a f .f X fe . , Qgie 2 5 S A. While getting ready for the big step into Senior High School, the Kittens find many events to interest them. Organized athletics, lbbludibg football, basketball, and baseball, play an important part in the Junior High program. Vocal music groups, the band, and cheerleaders and song leaders perform at many school events. There are clubs that claim many students as members. Seventh and eighth grade classes are reduced from the longer grade school session to two hour periods in a classroom as preparation for the single hour class in high school. Some subjects such as art, home economics, shop, and music meet just for one hour as is -done in the Senior High. By the ninth grade, students are meeting in one hour, one subject periods. . Squads like Port Townsend with a backfield that weighed an average of 185 pounds, fell to the hustling Kittens. The one loss of the year was to Coontz by the score of 20 to 7. This single setback was out- -- Rx weighed by a 20-O win over Marcus Whitman of South Kitsap, the 19 to 0 defeat of Port Townsend, a 7 to 0 victory over North Kitsap, and a deadlock on a rain soaked field with Dewey. So ended the season of 1955-56, leaving the Kittens of the coming season a fine record to follow. Coach-MR.
