SECOND ROW: Albert Smith, lerry Woodard, Bob Paulsen, Ted Thomson, Bud Scott. Eighth Grade The Sth grade of i949 had the distinction of being the first 8th grade class in C.K. Junior High. lt unites for the first time the students from Chico, Tracyton, and Silverdale schools and will start a five year period in which we will try to make our mark in Central Kitsap High. The officers elected for the year were: president, Willie Robinsong vice-president, Jerry Woodard: secretary, Mary Lou Karkaineng treasurer, Ted Thompson: sergeant-at-arms, Bobby Paulsen and Albert Smith, student council, Paul Sulonen, Bud Scott, Bonny Kay Ferguson, and Jacky Cramar. We assisted the senior high in a magazine sales contest put on by Curtis Magazine Co. The 8th grade led in the sales, Mrs. Brockway's room, 8-l and 8-2, won a radio for selling more magazines than Mr. Linder'S room. The top five salesmen were: Paul Reeser, Mike Best, Stan Reeve, Janice Marvin, and Maurice Maiert. Mrs, Brockway's room had a Thanksgiving party, both rooms had a Christmas party, December 22, l948. Bert Olson and Willie Robinson were on the football team and we expect many 8th graders will be turning out for track and baseball. We are fortunate to have Mary Lou Karkainen for a cheer leader and Shirley Theison the drill team. That is the historical picture of the 8th grade. From here on in let the class of l953 make history for C,K.H.S. FIRST ROW, lett to right: Delores Peterson, Diane Chamberland, Verla DeGuire, lean Ross, Margarette Douglas, loyce Tyler.
