For Halloween, Mr. Hale design- ed a head for a local haunt- ed house. He said that he enjoyes doing various types of paper mache. Miss Pam.Smith was a stu- dent teacher for four weeks in the gym classes with Miss Shirley Sanner and Mrs. Elaine Holst. Cooking classes prepare cookies, meats and other 12 foods. Sewing students node pants and jumpsuitsp then they modeled these outfits in the spring fash- ion show. Dissecting small crea- tures and observing ndoro- scope slides were the high- lights of general science classes. Physical science classes learning about the world around them in scien- tific terms. Learning to take pictures develop negatives, and make prints was a part of a unit in Mr. Madrigal's industrial c munications classes. Shop teaches busied stu- dents various projects. Students like reading lab The language arts gained two new English teachers and a reading teacher this year. Mr. Jay Liesvehd taught ninth grade English classes and coached basketball. Mrs. Phyllis Agins began the new reading lab with Mrs. Pat Smith as her assis- tant. They taught seventh grade. Mrs. Mary Louise Sirls be- gan her seventh and ninth grade English classes after the first nine weeks. 17 Mrs. Marcia Cooper, Eng- lish 8, Mrs. Colleen Thebo, English 8,9, Mr. Jay Lies- veld, English 9, Mrs. Rozan Mueller, English 7,9, Miss Sharyn Ballard, English 7, Journalism, Mrs. Virginia Kirkwood, English 7, Mrs. Bernice Cottrell, English 8, Mrs. Frances Vasquez, Span- ish, Mrs. Diane Hinshaw, librarian, Mrs. Robbie Thuerer, reading 7, Mr. Frank Sager, special edu- cation, Mr. Reyes Mendez, special education, 25 Mrs. Diane Hinshaw and her dog, Alice attended the foot- ball game at Wyandotte High against Eisenhower. 33 Mrs. Louise Sirls, English, join- ed the staff.
