Semor Class Hlstory Our days as hlgh school students had begun, when m September 1939 we arrxve as green young Freshmen' Wrth the assistance of our class advlsor Mr VanScha1ck we elected our class ofllcers, Harold Smxth presldent, Glorla Hemes v1ce presrdent Kathleen Sherlock, secretary and Robert Martln, treasurer The fall of 1940 found us back at school eager to resume another successful year Many of us hved up to the txtle of srlly sophomores, but we w1ll admlt that rt was fun Under the guldance of our class advnsor Mlss Hammlll, we presented a very clever skit for Stunt Nnght whlch was a summary of the event of the school year That year xt was our turn to mmate the bewtldered Freshmen We d1d th1s very successfully m our own Get Wlse Assembly wh1ch proved to be a memorable occaslon for all of the Freshmen Our Sophomore class ofhcers mcluded, Chrlstma Farrell presldent Vlrgxnra Rerlly, v1ce p estclent Frances Devlne, secretary and Arma Burke treasurer The year 1941 saw us ln our un1or year eager to be regarded as upper classmen and w1th many plans for the coming year Our Hrst event of the year was our umor dance held 1n November 1941 wh1ch was a huge success and was followed by our umor Prom one of the best Proms that has ever been presented ln our school As class ofhcers for our un1or year we elected Chrlstlna Farrell presxdent Margaret Houck, v1ce presldent, Theresa Thoro good secretary Vlrgmxa Rerlly, treasurer Much credit 15 due to the efforts of Mr Harold Haynes our umor Class advlsor, who helped to make that year a very suc cessful one We entered our last year of hxgh school rn September 1942 w1th the determmatlon to cl max our Senlor year w1th numerous successes and many pleasant memorles An outdoor party for the Semors and Mlss Sulhvan was glven by Mr and Mrs Rude rn the fall We were grateful to and Mrs Rude for thxs very enjoyable occasxon wh1ch marked our hrst mformal gathering as Grand Old Semors Our hrst undertaklng was the annual magazine campalgn xn thxs enterprxse, we recelved much co operatlon from the other classes 1n our school as well as our own class We went well over our quota and establlshed a new record ln sales for other classes to atm at Wrth the success of the magazme campaign we next launched upon a new project the Semor Play Under the guldance of our dramatlcs coach and faculty advxsor Mtss Sulhvan we presented a three a t farce entltled Hrs Name Was Aunt Nellle The presentatlon of thls play proved to be very successful rn as much as lf recelved very cred1table comment from 1ts very large audlence In February 1943 we Semors had a party at wh1ch Mr and Mrs Rud and Mxss Sulhvan were present We had such an enjoyable t1me at thls party that we resolved to have another one ln Aprll wh1ch he drd have and wh1ch proved to be as equally enjoyable We chose as our leaders for our Semor Year, Hugh Power presldent Anna Burke VICE presrdent Theresa Thorogood secretary and Vtrgxma Reilly treasurer Mxss Dorothy Sullivan our class advnsor deserves a consxderable amount of praise for her hne work as our fmal advlsor She has played an Important part 1n our past successes, and helped us 1n many other ways We now take our leave of the halls of the Central lshp I-hgh School Ir IS w1th great fondness that we look upon our past experlences here These pleasant memorres wxll long be rememb red as we go to meet our future w1th the determmatlon to make use of what we have learned and make our friends Mr Rude the Faculty and the student body proud ofthe Class of 1943 48 gl? j ' .
